For conservatives and Republicans pouring over Tuesday's election returns looking for anything – no matter how small – to be happy about, take heart: the commie who wanted to be mayor of Minneapolis lost his race, coming in second to the incumbent mayor, Jacob Frey.
Omar Fateh, a sitting Minnesota state senator who's been called the "Mamdani of Minneapolis," was a disaster of candidate, even by Minnesota standards. An avowed Democratic Socialist who's officially a member of the state's Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, Fateh, a Muslim, embraced a series of radically leftist policies that painted a picture of a candidate looking to change his city for the worse.
He had pledged to raise the minimum wage in Minneapolis, increase the supply of affordable housing, and has railed against the police department — calling to replace some of its duties with community-led alternatives.
He’s also said he would alert illegal aliens about planned ICE raids in the city.
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN05) was a big fan of Fateh's, just to give you an idea of the character of the candidate. Her support may have been why the Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) Party, which is the official Democrat party of Minnesota, initially endorsed Fateh over the incumbent mayor, Jacob Frey, during its July convention.
Upon receiving the DFL-Minneapolis endorsement, Fateh proclaimed: "Today, we witnessed a rejection of politics as usual. We know the status quo are going to do anything and everything to maintain power. They'll have all the money in the world … But they don't have you."
Soon after the endorsement, however, allegations of election fraud began to surface, with Fateh's opponents questioning whether the online voting system used at the convention had correctly recorded all the votes. This led to the DFL withdrawing its endorsement of Omar Fateh. From streiff's RedState reporting on the kerfuffle:
The [Constitution, Bylaws & Rules Committee] determines that the Challengers have proven by clear and convincing evidence that the endorsement of Omar Fateh for mayor of Minneapolis was facilitated by use of a flawed electronic voting system which caused a substantial undercount on the first ballot of the mayoral endorsement and which caused another candidate to be dropped from consideration after such first ballot.
Ilhan Omar was bigtime mad, tweeting out, "It is inexcusable to overturn the DFL endorsement from Omar Fateh. A small group, a majority living outside Minneapolis, met privately to overturn the will of Minneapolis delegates who volunteered, organized, and participated in a months-long DFL process. Unacceptable."
That brings us to Tuesday's election. After three rounds of the always-confounding ranked-choice voting, Jacob Frey was declared the winner.
Jacob Frey got 12k second choice votes; Omar Fateh got 19k; Jacob Frey is re-elected Mayor of Minneapolis

Now, you're not wrong if you're thinking that Jacob Frey is no prize. Frey was mayor during the shambolic and destructive George Floyd protests of 2020 – you remember, they're the riots Gwen Walz enjoyed smelling – and just a few months ago made a fool of himself by castigating Christians who were publicly praying for the victims of the massing shooting at Annunciation Catholic School. But, we've apparently reach the point in the matrix where a run-of-the-mill radical Democrat is preferable to a blatantly commie Democrat.
New York City may be stuck with Zohran Mamdani for at least the next four years, but we should be happy that Minneapolis seems to have, for now at least, avoided a similar fate. Two commie mayors would have been too much for even this insane election cycle. Silver linings, folks. Silver linings.

Good. I hate the sight of the little goat-bearded muzz. He’ll probably run for Governor, or the Senate.
‘Karl Marx could not be reached for comment’
That’s because he’s burning forever.
Little goat-bearded muzz? Lol. I like your style.
He was born in Kampala, Uganda...an African. Swell.
I wonder how tall he is. Maybe he is short, like Putin. That might account for some of this hubris.
The phrase is “poring over” IIRC.
That’s what I was going to say. It’s a bit difficult for Marx to answer, since he is busy, trying to avoid the flames of hell.
One stinking loss.
We should be embarrassed.
I can’t stand the sight of that skinny beady-eyed Somali. Glad he lost.
Did he marry his brother too?
The communists will see this election result and try to import more Somalians into Minneapolis as soon as possible (won’t happen while Trump is president). In their minds, they will never stop until their conquest in complete.
Fateh will eventually be mayor.
Horse is long gone. It was obvious that the RINO buttplugs refused to go nuclear option before the election, and did it on purpose, some of them are NeverTrumpers, some are just uniparty dip****s. My guess is, they bet wrong, and the fence-sitters realized it after Tuesday's results. The POS's who will try to frame this as a repudiation of President Trump will lose their grip and soon will be booted.
“Fateh will eventually be mayor.”
You’re right.
On Tuesday, Minneapolis voters stepped up to the abyss, peered over the side and backed away saying “Not now - but definitely later”.
You’re thinking of Zohran the Magnificent.
My mistake! Thank you.
How about Zohran the Zero? THAT is far more appropriate for that JERK.
He thinks that he's going to get the RICH New Yorkers to pay for his nonsense. Obviously he hasn't a CLUE. People are rich because they have the best attorneys, accountants and such, to guard their money. He won't get a dime out of the rich. They DONATE where they want to.
We know that the New York POOR can't pay. So, as aways, the MIDDLE CLASS will have to foot the bill.
What else is new?
