"I’m still on the phone, and my daughter-in-law told me these were the first words out of my mouth, ‘No, no, no, no, no,'" Turek said. "If your son got hit, what would you do?… I got in the car because if there was any way I could save him, I had to do something."
Turek and the security team jumped into the SUV that they used to travel to the event and sped to a hospital while performing CPR and praying.
"Charlie's so tall, we can't close the door," he said. "We drove four miles… all the way to the hospital with the door open."
Turek said he kept yelling, "Come on, Charlie! Come on! Come on!"
As they frantically raced to the hospital, Turek tearfully said he realized Kirk was gone.
"Charlie wasn’t there. His eyes were fixed," he said. "He wasn't looking at me. He was looking past me right into eternity. He was with Jesus already. He was killed instantly and felt absolutely no pain."
Turek said despite their best efforts, there was nothing they could do to save Kirk.
"If that's any comfort at all, Charlie didn't suffer," he said. "He was gone. He was with Jesus. Absent from the body, present with the Lord. That's where he was."
Doctors briefly restored Kirk's pulse at the hospital, but a surgeon pronounced him dead within half an hour, according to Turek.
Hospital staff described Kirk's injuries as "catastrophic," he said.

It’s odd that at an event of that size there weren’t EMTs or an ambulance on site. Rushing someone to the hospital in an SUV, without medical care en route, is often a deadly proposition.
I agree. But it sounds like the wound was so devastating, it wouldn’t have mattered. Sadly, there was no saving Charlie after he was shot.
The story was that she was there and saw it .
Witnessing it via media has been pretty traumatic but I imagine worse for those actually there.
I hope she sees the song someone did that I posted about daddy’s work trip to heaven
He was hit in the neck and the carotid artery the spine was likely internally displaced due to the shockwave of the passage of the bullet. He clearly did Decerebrate Posturing this indicates near instant fatality. That posturing is brain death it’s when the nervous system sends out its last impulses and locks the body up in one last flash of impulse he goes limp immediately after he was brain dead before he hit the ground. The heart having it’s own nervous cluster will try to keep beating for as long as it has blood pressure to do so the it shorts out from lack of oxygenated blood.
His mentor is right he died instantly a d probably only saw a flash of light as his nervous system overloaded.
The Christians they so despise, have direct comfort to give for those in Christ Jesus. Not only are all diseases and wounds healed, but they are ALIVE in Heaven.
The left has no such assurance.
A good portion of the left are Satanists and very much believe in the afterlife they think their dark overlord is going to welcome them to his domain after and give them places of honor it’s twisted they hate Christian’s and God but worship the product of God expelling the fallen.
IMO, God decided that Charlie had done his required tasks for his life, i.e., converted so many young people to the political right, and to Biblical nuclear family mindset, that it was time to bring him home to his reward.
Those left behind will trust God to get them through.
“I do not know why oft ’round me
My hopes all shattered seem to be;
God’s perfect plan I cannot see,
But some day I’ll understand.”
“Some day He’ll make it plain to me,
Some day when I His face shall see;
Some day from tears I shall be free,
For some day I shall understand.”
Adam Geibel
Thanks for the explanation.
Charlie was obviously, instantly unconcious maybe even faster than the loss of his blood could account for.
Charlies final proposition now stands forever: Jesus is Lord! He is risen and fully alive, in the flesh, and is seated at the right hand of the God thr Father Almighty. And He shall come again to judge both the living and the dead!
I watched that video on X yesterday right here: https://x.com/DerrickEvans4WV/status/1968410142514278808
I had the same thoughts you did.
Obviously, his friends loved him, and they tried their best to save him. They had to make split-second decisions, like whether to keep driving to the hospital or stop to get the attention of the ambulance rushing the other way.
At the hospital, he had a pulse, and he was rushed into surgery, which begs the question: Would he have had a chance if EMTs had tended to him immediately at the event and rushed him to the hospital in an ambulance?
Even if the answer is no, all these events should have EMTs and an ambulance, and security should be blocking every rooftop.
IIRC, at most high school football games, it’s common practice to have an ambulance and EMTs on standby. Why not at this event?
I don’t understand why, either. It seems they didn’t expect anything bad to happen there.
Even if security assets did not allow for the rooftops to be manned, there is virtually no reason with the proliferation of cheap drones, that they can not be monitored, which is a lesson that should have been taken away from Butler, PA.
Any personal security detail not employing them moving forward is professionally negligent.
This is the experience I had with my best friend when she was called home. She was put on hospice but for the first week she was greatly fatigued but interacting with everyone in the room, even planning her upcoming birthday. She was waiting to go home to be with Jesus. She wanted those in her home celebrating with her. But after her birthday her body was vacant. She didn’t talk, she wouldn’t respond. Her bone marrow wasn’t making any new blood and without blood transfusion her life would ebb away. It was a joy to me that she didn’t suffer, she just got tired and went home to be with her Heavenly Father.
Does it look like to you it was a direct hit or a bounce off the bullet proof vest?
Erika can take great comfort that he didn’t consciously suffer.
just a thought:
maybe because it wasn’t a game, and was just a group talk event?
no contact sports, and low likely hood of a person falling down, blacking out etc.
usually don’t expect gunfire/sniper at such events, until recently with the out of control people the media and medical communities have created with help of wacked out political people, or maybe they are just greedy and don’t really believe in nor want what they vote into place for the public like, defund police, lbgt, etc divisive and craziness.
That is a state administrative requirement.
Agreed. Security teams should be extra cautious, especially after Butler, PA.
So I was taught. The Lord harvests you when "you're done here." You're here for a reason -- His reason -- and when you've done what He wanted you to do, learned what He wanted you to learn -- you go where He wants you to go.
