London CNN — Extreme weather caused by climate change is driving up the prices of basic food products worldwide and posing wider risks to society, a new study has found.

The cost of a wide range of goods – from vegetables in California to coffee in Brazil – saw dramatic spikes in recent years due to weather conditions that were “so extreme they exceeded all historical precedent prior to 2020,” according to the study led by Maximillian Kotz of the Barcelona Supercomputer Center.

Previous studies have examined how high temperatures have affected the cost of food produce in the long term, by impacting yields and hitting supply chains. The new research, published Monday, looked at 16 examples across 18 countries around the world where prices spiked in the short term as a result of either extreme heat, drought or heavy precipitation between 2022 and 2024.

Massive global debt is driving currency distortions that are accelerating inflation. Nothing to do with weather. It is 100F in Israel today. Means nothing. They still produce insane numbers of hydroponic tomatoes indoors that they export to Europe.

It’s like in Jurassic Park: “Yeah, but at some point, the chaos has to work in our favor, too, right?”

No. It will always be gloom-and-doom against us due to that uncontrollable, unpredictable, not-caused-by-human-mismanagement-at-all-ever “climate change.”

Well, it’s more like stupid “climate change” energy prices increased the cost of producing food causing inflation. Trump is fixing that, even as we speak.

But the weather hasn’t changed in my food growing corner of the world. Also, warmer and wetter and more CO2 is generally happy conditions for plant life.

When do you suppose CNN and lamestream media will figure out that nobody is listening.

--- "“Until we get to net-zero emissions, extreme weather will only get worse, and it's already damaging crops and pushing up the price of food all over the world,” Kotz, who also works for the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research in Germany"

Bull feces. Consider what "ner-zero emissions" means. Either you stop everything OR you buy "credits" to offset your emissions. Translate: The old indulgence game, once practiced in Europe is just dressed up in a new costume.

Buy you way out of guilt, they say. As they try to trap you in their NET-zero emissions malarkey.

Exactly. Nowhere in this article did it reference any of the so-called "climate experts". 🤣

according to the study led by Maximillian Kotz of the Barcelona Supercomputer Center.

yep, all data points including chemistry, plant science, physics, etc of A VERY COMPLEX SYSTEM are accounted for./s

Statistics, AI have very little application to provide answers. At best it provides another question.

But part of the problem is us. We want simple answers not another question.

But in my limited inquiry, there is eventually one simple answer to ALL questions. God.

“”They still produce insane numbers of hydroponic tomatoes indoors that they export to Europe.””

I wish I could afford to do ‘hydroponic tomatoes indoors’. Right now, my tomato plants are wilting in this 95+ heat and that’s with dark green shadecloth over them and also blocking the afternoon sun from the sides of the raised beds. Not helping. They have stopped producing anyway.

Once CO2 levels >1200ppm food crops explode . Bumper crops. Shown in lab tests, in hot houses.

It’s shrinking the amount of the food in the packages too. Is there anything climate change can’t do?!?™

This is BS piled high to ceiling. The real fact is Asian countries from Turkey to China are now much more prosperous and people there can afford to buy more food. The most populous country in the world is one of the fastest growing large economy in the world, and it has high positive birth rate. Supply & Demand still works!

To be fair, I DOUBT the study really says that. It probably strongly infers that, but concludes with “more study is needed”.

This is fake news, like always. What is the agenda of this fake news?
