WASHINGTON (AP) — Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth appeared to acknowledge that the Pentagon has developed plans to take over Greenland and Panama by force if necessary but refused to answer repeated questions at a hotly combative congressional hearing Thursday about his use of Signal chats to discuss military operations.
Democratic members of the House Armed Services Committee repeatedly got into heated exchanges with Hegseth, with some of the toughest lines of questioning coming from military veterans as many demanded yes or no answers and he tried to avoid direct responses about his actions as Pentagon chief.
In one back-and-forth, Hegseth did provide an eyebrow-raising answer. Rep. Adam Smith, D-Wash., asked whether the Pentagon has developed plans to take Greenland or Panama by force if necessary.
“Our job at the Defense Department is to have plans for any contingency,” Hegseth said several times.

Invading a sovereign territory has worked out so well for us in the past: Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan etc.
Eff Greenland. Waste energy on the Mexican invasion
Anybody who’s seen War Games knows they have contingencies for everything. Except for a rogue WOPR I guess.
Why????
Yes, and if you follow him on Signals, he’ll even tell you when the tanks are rolling in.
don’t forget to like and subscribe to his channel too

Yep. It would be irresponsible to do otherwise.
Fun fact: Once WW1 ended, our War Department started planning for a conflict with Great Britain. Because you never know…
How does a crAP stinkbait non-story merit this ‘intermittent’ ‘poster’ placing it at the top of Breaking News, on a day when there was the deadliest plane crash since the Russians shot down Malaysia Airlines MH17 10 freaking years ago; a California Senator got taken down by the po-po in what should be a blueprint for treating all Democrat Senators all the time; and Marines plus the National Guard are patrolling LA and putting Gruesome’s 2028 shot into the shredder.
Oh the feigned shock among the congressional dems that the Pentagon would have contingency plans to invade Greenland. They have contingency plans to fight a nuclear war as well. That doesn’t mean they’re planning to do it.
I learned they have such plans decades ago for all nations.
Exactly including Israel! Every nation
OK, I’ll put it like this: I didn’t vote for Trump because I want Greenland or Canada. I’m pretty sure I DON’T want them. I want Trump to focus on things that are important to me — not on ego projects.
It’s not a question of what the man can do; it’s a question of what I want him to be doing. Is that clear enough for you?
This is about China and rare earths. It sends two messages. The first - we won’t allow a Chinese (or Russian) presence in Greenland. The second - we are planning to wean ourselves from reliance on Chinese rare earths, so don’t try to blackmail us or slow walk delivery of rare earths because that will only speed up our efforts to replace you as our supplier.
And FEMA has contingency plans for a literal zombie apocalypse, and the CDC war games various pandemic scenarios.
Of course, the FEMA zombie apocalypse literature tells people to obey the government and head to government shelters and only has slow movers. I guess slow movers are more in line with the other government workers FEMA deals with but yeah, that plan shows a whole lot of nothing. If there were a real zombie event, it would most likely be rabies-based and they'd be fast for a while. But the government wants us to move to their shelters. I'm not feeling a lot of trust in authority here.
so what does that say about wargaming the invasion of Greenland? First, there's one major port, one major "city" [large town?], no significant military presence, and the only realistic reason for the invasion is to headstone incursions by other powers. With Thule military base, I doubt the actual Danish/Greenlandish population would notice an "invasion" beyond the absence of Russian or Chinese overlords suddenly descending upon them.
And Haiti! Don’t forget to take Haiti! Fine people, good climate,...
if the Pentagon is doing it’s job, it will have contengency plans to invade every country on earth, friend or foe alike.
Because you just never know when you need to invade Normandy because a bad guy has taken over.
If the Defense Department does not have contingency plans for any possible contingency, then it is not doing its job.
The Defense Department having contingency plans is about “what if” not about “we should”.
This is all about giving China a kick.
After owning Biden Inc., they intend for their CCP tyrannical surveillance state to be employed for the entire world and they will compromise, payoff or buy-off leaders in Panama, Canada, Mexico, Greenland and anywhere else for sale.
China intends to surround and replace the USA and the Davos Globalist WEF sycophants with their CIA ‘Color Revolution’ Marxists in tow are all there to help them accomplish it.
We have invasion plans for everybody enemies and allies alike. The reason for enemies is obvious. The reason for allies is equally obvious. On D-Day we invaded France as it was taken over by hostile forces, the NAZIs. Would we invade Greenland a territory of Denmark and member of NATO? NO NO NO!
For the same reason we have invasion plans for Panama as its canal (Built with our money) is a strategic path between the Pacific and Atlantic. It is essential for our commerce and Warships. If Panama were taken over by a hostile regime, say hello to the US Marines. Those Marines are badasses and love their job. I will never forget the picture of a wounded Marine Officer. He was being carried out by his men but was facing the enemy and firing at them with his sidearm.
Let me guess, were the representatives giving him a hard time mostly ‘Rats?

It was clear in my first response to you. That’s what the reference to the “average Joe on FreeRepublic,” comment I made applied to.
What you want and what are desired/required for our national security, I’ll leave up to President Tump who has all of the intelligence briefings.
Glad he doesn’t listen to people who don’t have a clue.
