WASHINGTON (AP) — Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth appeared to acknowledge that the Pentagon has developed plans to take over Greenland and Panama by force if necessary but refused to answer repeated questions at a hotly combative congressional hearing Thursday about his use of Signal chats to discuss military operations.
Democratic members of the House Armed Services Committee repeatedly got into heated exchanges with Hegseth, with some of the toughest lines of questioning coming from military veterans as many demanded yes or no answers and he tried to avoid direct responses about his actions as Pentagon chief.
In one back-and-forth, Hegseth did provide an eyebrow-raising answer. Rep. Adam Smith, D-Wash., asked whether the Pentagon has developed plans to take Greenland or Panama by force if necessary.
“Our job at the Defense Department is to have plans for any contingency,” Hegseth said several times.

Look, Greenland doesn’t want us. Canada doesn’t want us. Trump wasn’t elected to grow the country. We know why we voted for him. He needs to stay focused on that.
Ummmmm.....we have contingency plans to invade Mars at the DoD.
What would there be to invade? We already have a military presence there that probably far outclasses whatever Denmark has there. Would it even be relevant to send a couple marines to the few isolated settlements to assert that the inhabitants are no longer Danish citizens?

First of all....I don't think we should be advertising war plans....for any country. It's simply not done.

Yawn. I learned they have such plans decades ago for all nations. Back then the nation in question was CANADA. The news media had a thrill when they found out about that.
Typical stupid sensational headline by the morons of AP. The Democrats sound like idiots. Hegseth is their target lately.
They have plans to conquer Japan or Canada too. Planning is what they do.
We should take, Canada, Mexico, Bahamas, and Greenland.
Every country has a plan for all contingencies, including use of nukes if they have them.
The Pentagon has plans to invade everywhere, and defend from invasion from anywhere, including off planet. That’s their job, to have plans available because nobody has a working crystal ball. BFD!
Not to me...
All you have to do is announce that Greenland is now under our security umbrella, something like the Marshall Islands. No country other than Denmark will be allowed to establish themselves in Greenland without our permission.
In the case of Marshall Islands, we have an agreement that their citizens have free entry into the US and our citizens have free entry there.
Meanwhile, if Trump is anxious to annex something, he should annex the Chagos Islands where our Diego Garcia is located. Britain is determined to give it away so we may as well claim it.
I wonder what would necessitate it.
