Agreed, once you lose the foundation all is lost. This is what it looks like when a nation willfully turns its back on God. You can point out any number of symptoms. The root is godlessness. The good news is that if we turn and ask for forgiveness He will answer and have mercy & grace on us.

The Founders were well aware of the fall of Rome . They put together a Government to avoid the same mistakes. One particular item they put in to fix the inevitable slide towards tyranny has never been used. Even an impending Civil War was not enough incentive and the Constitution got Amended by war instead. How about skipping the War part this time around and actually using Article V, the Convention Of States?

Foisting the most perverse and stupid over all others, to assure the relativism is always present, is required long-term, but it only needs misplaced compassion, a lack of God, and/or libertinism to get it started, starting with government institutions and education.

We didn’t pass it to our children in the blood.” When coupled with what Thatcher also said, “The trouble with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money,” you realize just how precarious existence is for every free society.
No, that isn’t what ended the Republic. He’d have a better argument to say it weakened the Empire.
