Ford Motor Company on Wednesday announced its “handshake deal for America,” offering every American employee pricing on most of their automobiles.
“In times like these, talk is cheap. At Ford, we believe in action. For 121 years, we’ve put our money where our mouth is, assembling vehicles that Americans rely on and supporting American jobs. Today, I’m proud to announce a new U.S. initiative that’s more than just a promotion – it’s a handshake deal with every American,” Rob Kaffl, the general manager for marketing, sales, and service at Ford, announced. “We call it Ford Motor Company: From America, For America, and it means that starting April 3, we’ll offer employee pricing to everyone. Consumers will pay what we pay.”
Ford plans to offer the employee pricing to every American through June 2, offerings savings of thousands of dollars per vehicle.

But, we change the oil every 3000 miles. Saves engines. Also, we get things fixed, if needed. But, it's not needed very often.
220 221 whatever it takes
In 2016, I bought a Honda Pilot new. The transmission broke on the drive home from the dealership.
Ford is probably sitting the prettiest of the us car sellers. They assemble about 80% of their US vehicles in the US. Yes they get parts from around the world but compared to other brands they are in the best position regarding the new tariffs etc.
GM is gonna feel the pain. Moving their full size truck assembly to Mexico gonna hit that bottom line
You're thinking of public school teachers.
The problem with virtually all vehicles currently being manufactured is their complexity. I’ll wager that most will not be functional just ten years from now. After just a few years the cost of repair will exceed the value of the vehicle. Already there are blog posts online with stories about people walking away from vehicles where the cost of repair either exceeds the value or they simply don’t have the money. I had a water pump replaced on my 2017 Ford Expedition. $1700. A transmission service was $1500.
There’s a Pick and Pull near me that looks like a high end used car lot. Mercedes, Audis, Porches, all looking gorgeous. I enquired and the attendant pointed, “Needs an engine, $15000, needs a transmission, $12000. The rest all need one or more computers. They’re only available used and run a couple of thousand dollars and if they don’t work you don’t get your money back. And, once you put one in the diagnosis will proceed and likely tell you that the problem is actually in this other computer.”
My next truck will be between 1995 and 2005. I will never buy a new car again.
I had to walk away from a 1998 because it needed a computer board
My dad bought an ‘81 or ‘82 Fairmont. By far the worst car I ever drove. Felt like something that had been assembled behind the Iron Curtain by people who had never seen an automobile. ndescribably bad.
“I had to walk away from a 1998 because it needed a computer board”
Ouch! What was it. (This is news to me. Thought those were only on the latter two-thousand models.)
Ford needs to return to making a working man’s truck. A basic ICE truck, without all the bells and whistles, would sell like hotcakes. And, bring back the old-fashioned mustang that looks like a mustang.
You are buying the wrong Ford. I have had 4 Super duty trucks over 25+ years (diesels and no King Ranch). I drove each one to 300,000 miles before I get a new one. I have only one that had an issue, at 200k the secondary rail went out, cost me $3,800 and it went to 320,000 miles before I traded it.
I pull boats, horse trailers, heavy flatbed and such. You change the oil and take care of it and they run forever. In my latest (2021) running on fairly flat terrain it gets 22mpg. I can hang meat in the cab with the A/C full on in July. Rides better than any car - IMO.
Bookmark. I wonder how low the prices will be.
Oh Bullsh1t! I've had several Ford products, latest being 2 Escapes. I am quite satisfied with them.
I loved our 1985 Buick Rivera when I lived in Alaska. That thing with its front-wheel drive plowed through deep fresh snow better than the 4X4 we had.
And it was beautiful.
My mother in law owned a 2001 Lincoln. She kept it garaged and rarely drove it. When she died in 2023, she left it to my wife. It had barely 20,000 miles on it, but was having all sorts of electrical problems. We took it to three different mechanics to try and fix it. A computer module was broken and no one makes a replacement anymore. We replaced it with a used one from a salvage yard and it went out within a couple of months. It has been parked ever since.
My next vehicle will be a diesel pickup from the 60s or 70s, with no electronics, that I can convert to run on vegetable oil when the democrats make it cost prohibitive or outright illegal to buy gasoline.
Wow
This must make their dealer thrilled
My parents were hard core Ford/Lincoln/Mercury.
They bought me a 1979 Mercury Capri (almost a Mustang!) for college graduation.
I traded it in on a 1984 Thunderbird. After a couple of years it was having transmission issues, so I traded it in on a 1987 (New) Mustang.
Loved that car until we had kids. We ended up moving into our Honda years.
Fast forward 30 years and the wife falls in love with a loaded (Titanium) Ford Escape. She makes me trade in my Jeep...in her defense, my model 2008 Jeep was known for blown engines when over 100,000 miles and we were at 120,000. The Escape was used and had 90,000 miles on it, but it had every bell and whistle and the wife loves it.
We have had the Escape for about 4 years. It is paid off, but getting up there in miles. We just started looking at getting our “retirement vehicle”. Probably will be a minivan since we will be taking a lot of stuff from art/craft show to art/craft show. Ford doesn’t really make a minivan anymore...
Employee pricing isn’t going to compel me to purchase a $50,000 plus truck, or $25-30 base model car. My 2005 Ranger FX4 was $25,000 when I bought it back then, that was a big investment for me at the time, but it was affordable.
220...221...whatever it takes!
