Waters: I’m Not Playing Politics on Fires, But We Need Rich to Pay Fair Share to Provide Services
Breitbart ^ | 01/11/2025 | Ian hatchett

Posted on 01/11/2025 7:44:25 AM PST by ChicagoConservative27

On Friday’s broadcast of NewsNation’s “Cuomo,” Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) stated that she doesn’t want to get into politics about the fires in California, but “services cost money and we should be willing to get the richest people in this country, the richest 1% that is protected, make sure they pay their fair taxes so that we can have the money to provide the services. With that money and with those resources, the people who have been selected or elected to do the job should do the job.”

Waters began by saying, “I’m not into the blame game. I’m not into talking about whether or not Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) is trying to protect himself and run for president, none of that.”

I’m not playing politics here, but a dictatorship of the proletariat and public execution of Trump for ignoring climate change just seems like a sensible solution ...

No. The rich need to demand that the governments of California fire half of the bureaucracy in government that doesn’t deliver direct services like fire, police, and sanitation. The rich need to demand consolidation of bureaucracies that duplicate services.

She IS playing politics. However, since her supporters are also victims, it's a losing game for her, along with Newsom, Bass and other California grifters.

Now that the mega mansions of the richest have been burnt to the ground, what is to stop those ‘richest’ from taking the insurance money and relocate to a safer place.

Last time I checked, politics and taxes were fairly well conjoined. Your blaming the rich, Maxine, and your waters are dried up.

We must extract the poor ‘s fair share of the fire cost enabled by their political choices.

The LA poor are liable for their negligence in voting

“The top 1% of income-tax filers provided 40.4% of the revenue in 2022, according to recently released IRS data. The top 10% of filers carried 72% of the tax burden. Self-styled progressives will never admit it, but U.S. income taxes are already highly progressive.”

I would think that the Hollywood elite are paying their fair share in property taxes. Maybe they should look at the freebies that go to the poor, the homeless, and illegals?

Maybe the rich could rebuild using fireproof materials?

Concrete, metal, ceramics, etc?

Waters’ call to sock it to the rich doesn’t bother me - if she is talking about the California rich.

Targeting the wealthy in California right now should just about finish that state off.

Busting California down to irrelevant for a few decades will give them a chance to think about what went wrong and earn their way back into responsible statehood.

No matter what the issue, for Dems the answer is more taxes.

Get the guillotine out from storage and line up all the Republicans. That'll take care of all our problems.
