Carville on Harris loss: ‘It is and it always will be the economy, stupid’

Democratic strategist James Carville, who coined the phrase “It’s the economy, stupid,” admitted his predictions for the 2024 race were wrong and that Democrats lost because of the economy.

Carville, in an opinion piece for The New York Times, noted that while he truly believed Harris would win the election, he is reviewing what went wrong for Democrats since President-elect Trump’s decisive victory in November.

“I’ve been going over this in my head for the past two months, all the variables, all the what-ifs, all the questions about Joe Biden’s re-election decisions and what kind of Democrat or message might have worked against Donald Trump,” he wrote. “I keep coming back to the same thing.”

“We lost for one very simple reason: It was, it is and it always will be the economy, stupid,” Carville continued. “We have to begin 2025 with that truth as our political north star and not get distracted by anything else.

It’s always going to be about the constitution.

We have to begin 2025 with that truth as our political north star and not get distracted by anything else

Translation: In spite of reality, the media blob must convince the gullible public that the economy has gotten worse under a Republican administration, they way they did in 1992.

Carville has his opinions, but you cannot lie about economy and think people will accept it.

Somewhat true, when 2020 began the economy was humming, and then boom the Wuhan/Fauci virus showed up and tanked the economy, that and democrat voter fraud, got Brandon in.

Sometimes they will accept it, sometimes they won’t.

In 2024, the Democrat “big lie” strategy had to deal with the economy, and the “big truth” won out.

You don't say.

How many people voted with their pocket book? I certainly did, I voted my grocery bill.

In this election the woke culture was also the determining factor. Until the sane democrats dump this radical leftist insanity they’re going to have problems.

Thing is these nuts today are are the mainstream of the Rats, so that’s not going to be too easy.

James - this is not your Democratic Party anymore. The days of “triangulation” and economic populism are long gone. But please continue to complain loudly about today’s Woke Dems. Its amusing.

It’s not only the economy.

It’s immigration, too, yesterday being a prime example.

Not just the economy. It was the border as well. And it was that voters remembered how much better things were under Trump. Your girl was an empty pantsuit who is destined to become Mike Dukakis 2.0.

He could have said they were going to lose before Election Day I knew they were the economy is important but October 7th in Israel played a big part as well.

The Progressives came out on Israel in a way that turned powerful people away from the Democrats.

Karl Marx: Human history, activity, and morality derive from relations to Capital.
James Carville: It’s the economy, stupid.

Do people realize that Carville’s economic determinism is nothing new — just simplified Marxism for the ignorant? Does Carville? People need to be conscious that this is being normalized.

It’s the economy. But it’s Biden’s economy. Everything he touches, turns bad. His economy, and his decision to run for a second term, brought the ‘rats down.

He is parsing words very cleverly, which many Freepers will likely miss.

He is not actually admitting that the economy was bad, and that is why Kam lost.

No, he is still claiming the economy was great. What he says in the article is that the Dems failed to create the proper narrative for the strong economy, and lost the perception battle on the economy.
