The Supreme Court on Wednesday appeared likely to uphold a state ban on certain gender transition care for minors, with a majority of conservative justices expressing concern about intervening in a bitter national debate over whether transgender young people should have access to the treatments.
The justices were reviewing a Tennessee law that prohibits minors from using hormones and puberty blockers for gender transition....
Whatever the court decides will affect the law in Tennessee and the 23 other states that have banned similar treatments in recent years.
Throughout the argument, Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. and Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh, who are most often in the majority, repeatedly suggested that medical policies and technical questions about gender transition care for minors should be left to the states.
“It strikes me as, you know, a pretty heavy yellow light, if not red light, for this court to come in, the nine of us, and to constitutionalize the whole area,” Kavanaugh said. He noted that some other countries are “pumping the brakes on this kind of treatment because of concerns about the risks.”
While those seeking to block the law have cast the issue as a matter of equal rights and not discriminating against transgender people, Roberts suggested that the case turns on evolving medical practices. He said the Constitution leaves such questions to “the people’s representatives rather than to nine people, none of whom is a doctor.”
In contrast, the court’s three liberal justices — Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson — were united in their skepticism of Tennessee’s defense of its law....
Kagan suggested that the state’s purpose for passing the ban was not based on medical concerns, but instead about lawmakers wanting “boys to be boys and girls to be girls.”

This could be a very big win for normal people with a 6-3 decision:
If you believe biological males should be allowed to share your daughters and wives looker rooms, vote Democrat.
If you believe gender is determined at birth and is not subject to change, vote conservative.
These are NOT “treatments”, they are Dr Mengele type Mutilations of healthy children and everyone that does this should be treated as such.
Logic seems to escape her honors on the court. If something needs a “treatment” then scientifically means that the condition is pathological for which treatment is sought. Words mean things as Rush Limbaugh used to say.
Yup. This is a hill to die on. We should hammer home that Dems are the party of gender confusion.

Thank God I had very liberal parents of the 60's and 70's that coached me well. They would today be sickened by what is the dystopian flavor of the week.
Children who have been mutilated or otherwise harmed should forever have the right to sue anyone that participated in harming them, even if at the age of three they signed a consent form authorizing their own mutilation.
Let’s see how many doctors and hospitals will stay in the child mutilation business knowing their victims have access to the courts.

I grew up on a ranch and learned to give "gender affirming care" to livestock when I was still a kid. I can't count how many bulls I helped to transition into steers.
There is no such thing as "gender transition", and it certainly is not "care."

I can solve this whole mess in about one sentence:
“There is NO statute of limitations for gender transition surgery”
True sex change could happen in sci-fi or fantasy fiction, but not in reality.
Drugs and cosmetic surgery can not change it.
I feel like Never Trumpers lost the plot in 2016 especially. They were just ready to hand the court over to Hilary. Where would this case be today, what would the court look like today had Trump lost in 2016?
