Manhattan prosecutors on Tuesday said they will oppose President-elect Trump’s demand to dismiss his criminal hush money case following his White House victory, court documents show.
But Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D) in the new letter said he won’t resist adjourning Trump’s sentencing next week so the judge can receive further briefing on the issue.
Bragg is firmly against tossing his historic case entirely, though his letter does leave the door open to “non-dismissal options” like halting the sentencing until Trump’s departure from office in 2029.
“The People deeply respect Office of the President, are mindful of the demands and obligations of the presidency, and acknowledge that Defendant’s inauguration will raise unprecedented legal questions,” Bragg wrote. “We also deeply respect the fundamental role of the jury in our constitutional system.”

backing their “clown law” to the hilt.
He blinked. Now its just a matter of the price.
12 Dems on a jury are not Trump’s Peers.
I sincerely hope that Bragg does double down...it’ll make his fall that much sweeter. Stupid is as stupid does.
I see pain and misery in Alvin Bragh future. 😏
He knows this case is going NO WHERE, it should have NEVER been filed..but that fat f*ck is running for re-election so he has to give some meat to the commie morons who are going to vote for him again
What will this dope and his sidekick in the clown car, Letitia James, do? They want to continue and were elected by the rabid lunatics who voted for them to get Trump. But I am sure they are being pressured by saner Dem leaders to find an exit ramp for these banana republic show trials before they do more PR damage to the party.
Eat another Twinkie, you fat NYC f***.
I do not want the conviction tossed under a “Presidential immunity” ruling. The conviction in this case should be overturned on merit, and with a judicial ruling that would support a criminal case against the prosecution for violating the defendant’s civil rights.
Bragg is a horrible little fat man.
Bragg can be dismissed...... Permanently. He should wake up and smell the coffee on this and his ridiculous foray into elevating state law to federal and also inventing law inside a “prosecution”. Manufacturing law by prosecuting FIAT.
Fiat- an ancient Latin term, usually applied to the creation of money (from nothing. as in Fiat money).
It is also a brand name for an often poorly made Italian motor. So they had to merge with Allis Chalmers in the US to create FIAT/Allis. Just an opinion- there are or was upscale Fiat manufacture that aren’t too bad.
My prediction is it gets overturned on immunity grounds, and Bragg then declines to retry the case. They will claim Trump got off on a “technicality”. Blah blah blah.
Where are the appeals courts is what I want to know.
In the now-immortal words of Tom McDonald...
“Bitch, you missed!”
Given the need to balance competing constitutional interests, consideration must be given to various non-dismissal options that may address any concerns raised by the pendency of a post- trial criminal proceeding during the presidency, such as deferral of all remaining criminal proceedings until after the end of Defendant's upcoming presidential term.
Suspending the trial until 2029 is an unconstitutional violation of President-Elect Trump's sixth amendment right to a speedy trial.
It's laughable that Bragg cites "competing constitutional interests" to violate the Trump's constitutional protections. Not only does it keep the sword dangling over his head for four years, it forces him to keep his lawyers on retainer for the duration. That's exactly why the speedy trial protection exists -- to keep the government from punishing the defendant via the process.

Alvin Bragg will be in prison long before Donald Trump
Fat Albert! Hey! Hey! Hey!
Pretty sure neither Bragg, James or Merchon can not stand up to serious investigative scrutiny. They should take a knee and dismiss.
Although Bragg is a NY State prosecutor, I hope Gaetz can convict him on some Federal charges.
