Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (R) and Rep. Colin Allred (D) are in a virtual dead heat in the state’s Senate race, according to a poll released Wednesday.

The Emerson College Polling/The Hill survey found Cruz just ahead of Allred by 1 percentage point, 48 percent to 47 percent, with 5 percent undecided.

Cruz should win, but it won’t be pretty, much like 2018. Cruz is just a brutally awful, almost non-existent campaigner. You sense he wouldn’t be disappointed if he lost.

I asked a buddy who lives in Dallas about this earlier. I asked him if Cruz was going to win- he replied; “Easy- it’s a lock.”

https://www.newsweek.com/ted-cruz-colin-allred-senate-race-polls-beto-orourke-1957330

At this time in 2018, O’Rourke was polling slightly better against Cruz than Allred, but Cruz still pulled ahead in most polls.

In a Quinnipiac University poll conducted from September 11-17, 2018, Cruz was leading O’Rourke by 9 points (54 to 45 percent). The were 807 likely voters surveyed and the margin of error was plus or minus 4.1 percent.

However, O’Rourke did pull ahead of Cruz in a Reuters/University of Virginia Center for Politics/Ipsos poll taken from September 6 to 14, 2018, in which O’Rourke was up by 2 points (47 to 45 percent). The poll questioned 992 likely voters and has a credibility interval of plus or minus 3.5 percent.

Meanwhile, a Crosswind Media & Public Relations poll conducted between September 6 and 9, 2018, saw Cruz ahead of O’Rourke by 3 points (47 to 44 percent). A total of 800 likely voters were surveyed and the margin of error is plus or minus 4 percent.

Forget the poll ... what are the early turn out votes saying?

I bet Greg “Mr. Spread The Invaders Far and Wide” Abbott and Ted and his crew of Marquis De Queensbury Olde Tyme Repugnic-nt strategists have really made sure the election is going to be fair and the vote counters are honest and fair.

He got my vote this morning. Wife’s will be tomorrow. Our kid and spouse will vote for Cruz soon before the close of early voting. The spouse’s parents will be voting for Cruz also.

I assume Trump wins his second term in office. I assume Clarence Thomas and Sam Alito will probably decide to step down during Trump's second term. I assume the confirmation fight to replace both will be absolutely brutal. There is absolutely no reason not to nominate Cruz to succeed one or the other - the man is a rock-solid conservative with a fine mind who I would trust to replace either Thomas or Alito. Other senators who despise Cruz will scream, but screw them - they will scream no matter who Trump nominates. Get a guy in there we can trust to make the right ruling for the next three decades - no more Kavanaugh's and Coney-Barretts.

It seems like Cruz has been around forever, but he’s only 53.

“How is that possible?”

Cruz is a terrible candidate and is over identified with the GOP, which people hate.
