Project 65, a “dark money” left-wing group that has targeted lawyers that represented former President Donald Trump in 2020, is now warning potential Trump attorneys that they could be disbarred for working for him.
In an ad posted on Instagram, and apparently targeted at lawyers, Project 65 warns: “Don’t let partisan politics endanger your standing with the bar. The Porter Wright Partners face ethics complaints over Trump campaign post-election work. Don’t risk your law license by joining an effort to subvert democracy. We – and the public – are watching.”
Porter Wright is a firm that represented Trump in Pennsylvania in 2020. Its lawyers withdrew from representing Trump mere days after the November election after coming under intense pressure.
The “ethics complaints” referred to in the Project 65 ad were brought in 2022 by Project 65 itself against Ronald Hicks and Carolyn McGee, who were partners at Porter Wright at the time. Both now work for another firm, Nelson Mullins; they withdrew from representing Trump before the first hearing in his election challenges even took place. The Pennsylvania Office of Disciplinary Counsel does not appear to have taken any action against either of them.

A dead law weaponizer can do no harm
According to Mao Tse Tung, all political power grows out of the barrel of a gun.
This is why we have a Second Amendment.
It is also why fedzilla arms every two-bit regulatory agency.
These are the lawyers that Shakespeare was talking about when he said, “Let’s kill all the lawyers”...
These same ones would go out of their way to represent illegals who raped and killed young children...
The problem is that people other than lawyers can file ethics complaints against lawyers.
A law degree is like a gun - it all depends on how it is used.
“Project 65, a “dark money” left-wing group”
Release the patriots from their “J6” jail cells and put these Project 65 totalitarians in those cells.
There have been no consequences for the enemies within. That needs to change.
How “Banana Republic” has this country gotten.
It’s how the communist democrats have operated from day one the party needs to be dissolved to save liberty.
This alone is grounds for disbarment. Theirs
Good idea .......file a RICO against them. Anybody can file. Lots of info on the net.
Establish standing
The plaintiff must have been injured by racketeering activity.
The court will review standing at the beginning of the case.
File a RICO Statement
Within 20 days of filing the pleading, the plaintiff must file and serve a RICO Statement on the party.
The statement must include the following information:
Whether the alleged unlawful conduct violates 18 U.S.C. §§ 1962(a), (b), (c), and/or (d)
A list of defendants, their alleged misconduct, and the basis of their liability
A list of alleged wrongdoers, other than the defendants, and their misconduct
A list of alleged victims and how each was injured
A description of the pattern of racketeering activity
Wete no longer a republic.
Until that changes, legal is whatever Deep State thinks it can get away with doing.
We’re...
Everyone has a right to legal representation.
And lawyers can realistically assess the merits of those complaints, and decide that they’re crap and go ahead if they have any sand at all.
Lawyers have to start fighting back. This is diminishing Trump’s Constitutional right to defend himself, and all other Americans in turn.
This has to be fought tooth and nail.
Yes, but I was responding to the idea that we should go after the attorneys who filing ethics complaints for the purpose of silencing conservatives and conservative legal actions. The other side has an easy way to evade that by having non-lawyers file those complaints.
The problem with ethics complaints is that they're always going to be investigated, and it is a PITA for the accused to respond to them even if they lack merit. And, you have to report them to your insurer.
“I think taht disbarment attempts have said to be chilled somewhat.
If trump can’t get lawyers without risk of them getting disbarred, then he can’t get a fair trial. If he can’t get a fair trial, then he could not get sent to prison. The Supreme Court would have to order him freed.”
___________________________________________________________
In that event, Trump would be assigned a public defender. If he didn’t want one, he could always attempt to represent himself.
It’s the judge’s job to ensure a fair trial.
Yes but the public defenders could also be threatened with disbarrement. Trump can also afford representation, so I don’t think the judges would assign him one unless the Supreme court stepped in and assigned him one or shut down the whole project65 thing and forbad any threats to Trump’s lawyers on 6th amendment grounds!
That is correct.
“A law degree is like a gun - it all depends on how it is used.”
Maybe they need Red Flag Laws to keep lawyers from harming folks...
