Former President Donald Trump is crushing Vice President Kamala Harris among working-class voters by the same margin with which he led President Joe Biden in June, according to the latest New York Times/Siena College poll.

The poll, conducted September 3-6, 2024, and published on Sunday, shows Trump leading Harris by 17 points, 56 percent to 39 percent, among non-college-educated voters.

In a poll taken in the days before the fateful June 27 debate, which marked Biden’s political demise, Trump had a 54 percent to 37 percent lead over Biden among working-class voters.

OK, good - these are pre-debate poll numbers, though - let’s see if the numbers hold up post-debate. I predict they will...but let’s see.

An InsiderAdvantage survey of 800 registered likely voters shows Donald Trump with a one point lead over Kamala Harris in Michigan. The survey was conducted September 11th through midday September 12th.

https://insideradvantage.com/michigan-survey-trump-leads-harris-by-one-point-within-margin-of-error-see-story-below-chart/

Trump enjoyed a five point advantage among independent voters. The poll also showed a slightly higher amount of support for Trump among African-Americans (around twenty-percent), which may be an aberration, or a reflection of higher African-American numbers seen in recent national surveys such as The New York Times survey. Regardless, Michigan’s African-American vote, while not insignificant, is half that of swing states such as Georgia, so the elevated numbers, if reduced to past historical levels, would not change the basic tie within the margins. I suspect that for various reasons unique to Michigan in this cycle, the African-American numbers are fairly accurate, at least for this stage in the contest.

It appears that the debate had little or no impact on the contest, particularly among independent voters, in this particular state. A poll of battleground states we conducted with Trafalgar Group the night of the debate showed that while respondent’s thought Harris won the debate 55%-43%, undecideds did not move and overall support for the candidates was tied 48%-48%. The race remains extremely competitive both in Michigan and likely all of the battleground states.

Got to ride my bike today.

Gassed up and rode around several wealthy New England neighborhoods.

Counted 21 TRUMP signs, 2 Harris signs, and two weasel signs:

one said “MADAME PRESIDENT”
and the other had too many self-righteous virtue-signaling platitudes to read, so I suppose it was implying Harris.

This is in MASSACHUSETTS.

One house had an RFK sign, with a TRUMP sign right next to it.

If a Kennedy can make the leap, so can they! :-)

PS, my Harley has been “debadged”. Found some beautiful Tribal Rose Stickers to cover up the logo on the tank.

This is why the polls showing her “winning” are BS. How can Trump be winning in all categories compared to his 2020 polls but be losing?

80.4 Million Americans Are in Trouble if the Stock Market Crashes
https://www.massnews.com/80-4-million-americans-are-in-trouble-if-the-stock-market-crashes/ BLACK TUESDAY..FDR.

The stock market has long been a cornerstone of American financial growth, promising returns for those who invest wisely. However, recent fluctuations and economic uncertainties have brought to light a stark reality: 80.4 million Americans could be in serious trouble if the market crashes. This number represents a significant portion of the population whose financial stability is heavily reliant on the performance of the stock market. As market volatility increases, the risk of a sudden downturn becomes more apparent, raising concerns about the readiness of many Americans to weather such a storm.

The Overreliance on Market-Based Investments
A large segment of the American population has been encouraged to rely on market-based investments like stocks, bonds, and target date funds for their retirement and savings. These investment vehicles are often marketed as safe, long-term strategies that will inevitably yield positive returns over time. However, the reality is that these assets are susceptible to market swings, and their value can plummet during economic downturns.

PwC Plans to Cut1,800 Jobs Citing Changing Market Demand

https://www.pymnts.com/personnel/2024/report-pwc-cuts-1800-jobs-amid-waning-advisory-demand/

Accounting giant PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) is reportedly cutting around 1,800 jobs.

The layoffs, its first in 15 years, will be accompanied by a restructuring of PwC’s technology group amid slowing demand for its advisory services, the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday (Sept. 11), citing sources familiar with the matter.

Those sources say PwC — one of the “Big Four” accounting operations — is in the process of cutting staff in the U.S. and elsewhere, chiefly in its U.S. advisory and products and technology operations. The cuts, about half of which are offshore, include associates as well as managing directors. It also includes business services, audit and tax divisions, the sources said.

Ex-Sony boss tells laid-off employees to ‘drive an Uber’ and ‘find a cheap place to live’

https://www.neowin.net/news/ex-sony-boss-tells-laid-off-employees-to-drive-an-uber-and-find-a-cheap-place-to-live/

When asked about how laid-off developers should respond, Deering suggested they “drive an Uber or whatever” and find “a cheap place to live” near the beach for a year.

I think it’s probably very painful for the managers, but I don’t think that having skill in this area is going to be a lifetime of poverty or limitation. It’s still where the action is, and it’s like the pandemic but now you’re going to have to take a few…figure out how to get through it, drive an Uber or whatever, go off to find a cheap place to live and go to the beach for a year.

A court decision in Maryland faces stiff criticism from seven energy trade groups that say the ruling could shut down a swath of offshore oil and gas operations and activities on Dec. 20.
