The White House said Wednesday it is as “as close” as it has ever been to reaching a cease-fire and hostage release deal between Israel and Hamas.
“There is a good proposal before both sides, and they need to both accept that proposal so we can get this in place,” White House national security spokesperson John Kirby told reporters. “We are as close as we think we have ever been.”
Kirby added that gaps have narrowed in the negotiations and the U.S. believes a deal can be reached, though he did not offer a timeline. The gaps are related to “implementation details that need to be hashed out,” he said.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken also said Tuesday at a press conference that “the negotiations have now reached a final stage.”
All parties “agreed on the urgency of bringing this process to closure,” Blinken said. “Concluding that agreement and avoiding any action that could somehow disrupt it is the only path to ending the conflict in Gaza and bringing calm to the region. It’s critical that all parties work to finalize an agreement as soon as possible.”

Keith Ellison, who is campaigning to become Democratic National Committee chairman, met with Hamas fundraiser Mohammed al-Hanooti at a 2009 campaign fundraiser for Virginia House of Delegates candidate Esam Omeish. Ellison was the keynote speaker at the event.
Last week Chuck Ross at The Daily Caller reported on the appearance of Ellison at the Omeish campaign event, noting that Omeish had previously called for Palestinians to follow “the jihad way” against Israel.
Given that, it’s no surprise to find al-Hanooti, who styled himself as “grand mufti” of Washington D.C. and whom FBI documents identify as a top U.S. fundraiser for Hamas, at the campaign fundraiser.

Before he was alleged to have become a spy for Saddam Hussein’s regime, Muthanna Al-Hanooti’s charity work and political activism provided him with access to the highest echelons of government.
Newsletters collected by the Investigative Project on Terrorism, some published now for the first time, show Al-Hanooti photographed with dignitaries ranging from First Lady Hillary Clinton in 1996 and Vice President Al Gore along with significant members of Congress.
That may explain why Iraqi intelligence agents had confidence that Al-Hanooti would be able to persuade Congress to lift economic sanctions against Iraq. A federal indictment unsealed Wednesday accuses him of using his work with the Michigan-based Life for Relief and Development (LIFE), formerly known as the International Relief Association, Inc., to become an Iraqi agent.
We won’t be around that long.
It’s a word game! Right after the attacks would anyone say that a deal was close? No! So now, a deal is just as likely as it was then. Or, as close as ever.
Let’s see the deal and decide.
Which means it’s not.
I do not think that Israel will back down on their commitment to end this once & for all. So, no I think it’s pure BS trying to fool voters, period. Democrats are experts in deceit tactics. Remember with them the ends justify the means, always.
