Pope blasts Texas AG Paxton's suit to shut down migrant-aiding Catholic charity

In a rare TV interview, Pope Francis lambasted Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton's attempt to shut down an El Paso-based Catholic charity that assists migrants, even calling the state's legal action "madness."

Francis' comments came during Sunday's episode of CBS's 60 Minutes. During that interview, taped in April interview at the Vatican, journalist Norah O'Donnell asked the pontiff what his thoughts were on Texas' bid to shut down Annunciation House, the El Paso-based nonprofit.

"That is madness. Sheer madness. To close the border and leave them there, that is madness," Francis said. "The migrant has to be received. Thereafter you see how you are going to deal with him. Maybe you have to send him back, I don't know, but each case ought to be considered humanely, right?"

The Pope can mind his own business. Talk about getting ahead of his skis.

“Catholic Charities are no better than coyotes who are guilty of human trafficking.”

I said EXACTLY the same, but some CLOWN here claimed that I was attacking Catholics. I wasn’t, I was only attacking the people who fund the Catholics and thus enable this to happen.

US Catholic Bishops are the same class of money-grubbing human-traffickers.

If the Pope really cared, he would instruct the church to assist the illegals getting home and help them there.

The NGO’s need to be eliminated, as do the tax free 501(C3) and 501(C4) that drive them. It is just a way for the “tail to wag the dog” and give undue power to Billionaires and power brokers.

Frankie The Red is upset…

If he’s so concerned, he can always house them at the Vatican… and feed, clothes, and support them with his own money…

Maybe the Pope should practice what he preaches.

Pope Leo IV built the first wall around the Vatican City in the 9th century as a reaction to the threat posed by Saracen pirates. The fortifications were strengthened in the 16th century – this time to protect the city-state’s growing wealth from the city of Rome, but also as an expression of papal power. These historic walls still exist along most of the boundary of Vatican City today. And the openings and interior are guarded by the Swiss Guards who are a trained military force that upholds its duty to protect the Pope should any forces threaten him.

So they have walls to not permit just anyone to enter the Vatican and a trained military force to secure it.

And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Mathew 7:3

Now we KNOW for sure who is running this operation and probably where the funds are coming from.
Others on FR have suggested it but now we know for sure.
For someone who claims he never watches the news, he sure knows a great deal about TX politics.

The Pope is clearly an ObamaBot.

The American Catholic bishops have long been apologists for illegal immigration as well as advocates for universal amnesty.

Maybe catholic churches in American could house them?

No, thank you. Mr. Bergoglio isn't paying to support Catholic churches in America. Quite the contrary, in fact ...

And "Catholic" "Charities" has been corrupt for a long time. Catholic who pay attention to details quit supporting them a long time ago.

After all of the disgrace the catholic church has suffered with priests assaulting children I am dumbfounded that anyone in their right mind would put any creedence at all in what this communist pope says AND the catholic church. It is simply mind-boggling!

There is also a similar organization called Jewish Charities, Protestant Charities. They make a killing destroying the world. I would bet there is a Islamic Charity ORG too. It is just a way for Billionaires to park monies. Like Soros, HE PERSONALLY doesn’t do a thing. He directs his tax free Foundations to do it. THEY PAY NO TAX, and when you have one under your control, the “Foundation” purchases Jets, houses, vast estates, and the Head of the Org pays a rent of say $1 a year to live there. The Foundation owns the private jets, the private island in the Bahamas etc. Owning something doesn’t mean Jacksheet, CONTROLLING things is the ultimate Power.

Yes. IMO, the government should be banned from donating-to or funding these NGOs (even contracting with) in any manner. This isn’t religion or charity

Make the NGOs completely responsible for illegals they bring in and not just for support. They commit crime, destroy property make the NGOs financially liable.
