Kremlin says Russia and NATO are now in "direct confrontation"

Russia and NATO are now in "direct confrontation", the Kremlin said as the U.S.-led alliance marked its 75th anniversary on Thursday.

NATO's successive waves of eastern enlargement are a fixation of President Vladimir Putin, who went to war in Ukraine two years ago with the stated aim of preventing the alliance from coming closer to Russia's borders. Instead, the war has galvanised NATO, which has expanded again with the entry of Finland and Sweden.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters: "In fact, relations have now slipped to the level of direct confrontation."

NATO was "already involved in the conflict surrounding Ukraine (and) continues to move towards our borders and expand its military infrastructure towards our borders", he said.

Why is NATO still needed after 75 years?

Because Russia remains a warmongering menace to all of Europe ... yes, it’s that simple

Our Hope is that Russia or Putin will fail internally, 300K plus dead? Thousands of tanks destroyed. And the cost to rebuild Ukraine if they win. If Russia wins Russia loses.

And the Kremlin would be correct.

Thanks Joe.

Russia has no intention of rebuilding Ukraine. The intention is to depopulate Ukraine, putting the people into slavery in Russia. That clears the land and waters for resource extraction, wheat, oil and gas.

About as subtle and civilized as a 17th century Boyar acquiring new land.

Kremlin says Russia and NATO are now in “direct confrontation”

______________________________________________

Did Captain Obvious write this article? There has been direct confrontation for years. Especially more so since NATO pushed Russia into war against Ukraine.

Oh, no!

We better dismantle NATO, or Russia could get even madder

But, if NATO gets dismantled, we need to make sure that Russia is also dismantled.

Why would Russia front a nickel to rebuild Ukraine?
Wouldn’t leaving it in ruins make partisan resistance fighting harder if the Ukes are struggling just to eat and keep warm?

"putin is a paranoid psychopath"

Why shouldn't he be? Has NATO actually done anything to keep him from being paranoid about the growth of NATO in the region? For years NATO took this countries money, the highest amount ever given by any member country, yet NATO has misused the funds it's been given the past 75 years, and not kept NATO readiness up to parr. How much longer are U.S. taxpayers going to have to support these worthless organizations?

More likely the pro-Globohomo Ukrainians join the millions who have already fled West.

Until the current Regime collapses.

For Canada it is a little bit different. On the first day of actual war, Canada will follow the demand of Quebec and eject from NATO.

(who knew that Quebec isolationism would save us ?)

If Russia is upset about NATO expansion, perhaps it should not have acted in a way that incentivized the eastern European countries to seek the protection of the NATO umbrella.

"Our Hope is that Russia or Putin will fail internally, 300K plus dead?"

LOL! You don't know history. Hitler invaded Russia in order to get control of Russia's oil fields. He too thought he could beat Russia by murdering thousands/millions of their people. A new 2020 statistic claims that between 15.9 and 17.4 million Russians died at the hands of the Nazis. What Hitler didn't realize that the Russians had that number, and millions more that ended up kicking his ass out of Russia, all the way back to Berlin. Hitler failed to realize just how vast Russia was, and how many people were still left in those regions to fight against him. He ran with his tail between his legs, and helped make Germany dependent on Russian energy sources for the next 70+ years.
