Good riddance to Johnson.
NEXT!
Um, at what point does Jeffries become Speaker in all this?
Probably next week....................
I think he’s done a good job overall. This spending is a big problem and he can’t tackle it by himself he needs a lot of support and cooperation- a lot of reps working together to write a new budget and campaign to the people on why it is necessary.
Anyway, to save this bill some Democrats may step in to save him, if necessary. Just to get this bill to the floor.
Jeffries can’t unless he gets a couple of GOP votes, or if for some reason more democrats are there to vote than GOP reps. This could happen if GOP are out of town.
He already is.
Every penny spent by the U.S. comes from the House of Representatives.
Every debit card, plane ticket, bus ticket, housing facility, hotel, etc... used to transport the invaders to the interior of our country is being FUNDED by Johnson.
He needs to go.
Too bad....I had hopes for Johnson. Looks like the RINO*ucks got to him for one more spasm of pork.
She’d last about 3 minutes.

That could well happen if we keep doing STUPID things. I like MTG but this would not be a good move at this particular time. STUPIDITY AND BAD JUDGEMENT KILLS!!
All he has to do is not bring these steaming piles to the floor, but he just can’t resist bending over for the borg.
There are more than enough members of Congress to pass these bills. The fact that you even have to tell him to block them from a floor vote shows how powerless the Speaker is when the majority party has no unified mandate.
She did it

Johnson has not been on the side of conservatives soon after being elevated as Speaker.
He needs to go.
Vacate the House. And the Senate.
Shut it all down and force them all to take a US Constitution 101 course. Anyone failing is not allowed back into the building... Ever.
He doesn’t bring it to the floor it doesn’t get a vote without process.
From your article -
“She would have to be recognized to try to vacate the speakership, and the House would have to take action within two legislative days. Having not noticed the privilege, the motion cannot be considered until after the recess.”
Perhaps someone better-up on the House rules can explain this ...
I understand and you’re not wrong but it’s a little oversimplified. The money is allocated by Congress (originating in the House) to all the various agencies. These agencies then have fairly wide discretion how they spend it. A lot of that comes from the Executive agencies. The House needs to do a much better job with oversight, and then with oversight rewrite the allocations as to how the money may - and may not - be spent. Write clawbacks in… if the money is found to have been misused by a committee hearing it’s automatically cut. You can do this by passing an annual budget but allocating the release of cash only every 60 days. And of course, slash the hell out of these programs - start with all the recent add ons before it’s too late. They didn’t spend that charging station money after a year! Take it back now.
There is just not enough political will to change things. Too many RINOs and special interests and the like. Only a few good people there. I honestly don’t know where Johnson personally stands on these issues. I didn’t like seeing him nod at a few things during the SOTU. Anyway, we can keep swapping out speakers but the real effort has to come from the ground up. We need to elect more serious people and they need to build the political capital to stick to their guns. It’s really a terrible mess we’re in not just financially and with the budget, but with the Dems always voting in lockstep. It means all the heavy lifting comes from maybe 30% of the GOP members/15% of the House. They need to figure out how to gain steam and get not only a strong GOP majority but then a very strong caucus running the show from that majority.
My personal wish is to get people who will totally rethink the role of government in society It’s all backwards. Most of the money needs to be spent by states and localities where the people have the most say over priorities. We’re too stuck on national politics, partly because that’s easy everyone watches the same News and it’s national news. It will take a lot of work. I have been toying with making short videos for X and Yiutube (and I guess TikTok too lol) explaining how and why we should cut the budget by at least half, and doing it without causing the so called “harms” that Democrats always trot out like “they want to push grandma off a cliff” type scaremongering. Slash the federal budget and pretty much get rid of the federal income tax. Let the states manage their needs themselves let the feds stick with their limited role of defense and courts and international relations and very limited issues related to interstate commerce. That last one can no longer be a blanket to justify federal involvement in everything we do.
