Vice President Kamala Harris has broken with President Joe Biden to call for 'an immediate ceasefire' in Gaza.
Her comments, made during a speech in Selma, Alabama, on Sunday, are the strongest condemnation of Israel's conduct since the Oct. 7 Hamas attack by a senior member of the Biden administration.
They came just a day before she is due to meet with a top Israeli official to discuss a potential ceasefire deal and a day after the US began air-dropping aid to the war-torn country,
'Before I begin I must address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza,' Harris said. 'What we are seeing every day in Gaza is devastating.'
Citing the 'immense scale of suffering' in the war-torn nation, she stressed 'there must be an immediate ceasefire for at least the next six weeks'.
'This will get the hostages out and get a significant amount of aid in. This will allow us to build something more enduring to ensure Israel is secure and to respect the right of Palestinian people to dignity, freedom and self-determination,' Harris said.
Her comments mark a departure from the more cautious approach so far favored by Biden, as he struggles to strike a balance between the US' role as an ally to Israel, with growing international outrage over its bombing of Gaza.

And Hamas has a new leader In Washington.
She thinks Biden is finished. She’s taking a position to the left of Biden, the ‘progressive’ position, which she thinks is the popular position with Dems.
The uptake here is not about a ceasefire, it’s that mainstream Dems believe Biden is a lost cause. Even his own VP doesn’t respect him.
This is no different than calling for aid to be dropped to the Nazi guards at the concentration camps during WW2, while they push the Jews into the furnaces.

There are over 100,000 Israelis evacuated from Northern Israel. Besides the Hezbollah missiles, they fear the same kind of Oct 7 attack from Hezbollah.

She was in Selma, trying to keep those voters on the Democrat plantation. A mixed message from the administration is probably enough to accomplish that, for now.
She needs to tell muslim jihadists to back off and leave the rest of the world alone if they don’t want people to fight back.

This is just the Biden administration speaking out of both sides of its mouth, that’s all. No one has “broken” from anyone.
Of course, the Daily Mail laps it up like my dog does vomit.
I saw some clips of this on the national news earlier. I was quite stunned that she took such a strong, anti-Israel stance, so publicly.
Seems like they’ll have to get some cohesive messaging. Probably have KJP and Kirby out multiple times tomorrow to tell us what they really think. It should be interesting.
