Russia has made an explosive claim about NATO's involvement in the Ukraine war. Moscow claimed that NATO troops, disguised as mercenaries, are operating in Ukraine. The claim has been made by the chief of the main operational directorate of the Russian general staff, Colonel General Sergey Rudskoy. He said that NATO troops control multiple launch rocket systems and air defences in Ukraine. The startling statement comes as the Ukrainian army is unable to defend its territory. In the latest blow, the Ukrainian military lost control over Avdiivka. Watch this report to learn more.

It's not the first time we did this.
The French KIA (mercenaries) were French Foreign Legion, can be confirmed in other public media...
Britain should send a few Trident missiles.
“Training accident deaths”, incoming...
That's why Macron lost his mind over it...
And what will Russia do if they can prove that NATO volunteers went to Ukraine?
Hmm?
Does MI6 run the Hindustan Times like it does the DM?
How does the Geneva Convention view mercenaries?
I agree with the sentiment of your tagline 👍
Unintended consequences.
“”””The French KIA (mercenaries) were French Foreign Legion, can be confirmed in other public media...””””
The Legion are regular French Army, Ukraine has no mercenaries, all fighting for Ukraine are part of the official state military, and where are those sources showing that the original story was true?
International Convention against the Recruitment, Use, Financing and Training of Mercenaries
What kind of fool in a NATO country would be wiling to die for Ukraine? SMH
That’s why I put this under “crime” too.
It’s obvious.
Everything about this war is wrong. Total hypocrisy. Selective enforcing of laws and policies. We usually try to stop people from traveling abroad and doing this, now we allow the Ukraine to recruit out of their embassy and consulates... Heck, we are more or less financing it all! Nazis are bad, except if they’re fighting on our side. Cancelling elections and banning opposition parties is bad, except if it’s our boy Mr. Z, then our MSM hardly even talks about it.
The financial incentives will be huge.
In Iraq we used Blackwater, Triple Canopy and Aires.
Back then (I had friends that did this) they were paying I believe $150k and that was 20 years ago!
Those were real mercenaries.
What were talking about here though is different. These are basically service members pretending to be mercenaries so that Poland, the US etc can lie about not having an active part in the fight / forces on the ground.
This is an existential question. The answer affects whether this continues and increase or not.
What defines a NATO Volunteer. Some fellow from Belgium looking for some action and a payday? Or an actual unit from the armed force of a NATO country? We’re the Eagle Squadron fliers mercy? How did Germany treat Eagle POWs? The AVG were actual mercy flying aircraft provided by the US. While their first engagement was not until 12/20/41, their existence was well known so I suppose one could argue that Pearl Harbor was a justified act of defense on the part of Nippon. There were so many mercy in Africa in the 60s that Hollywood made movies about them. Anyway unless you can prove actual NATO units are fighting in Ukieville, the nationality of a fighter is sort of meaningless.
.
Still, getting 150 to chase Apaches in Iraq is a very different thing than going into WWI trench/artillery warfare.
Skills can help you get through something like Iraq. Skills don’t help you get through Verdun, Bakhmut etc...
Only an idiot would volunteer to fight there just for money.
Moscow makes a claim, based on nothing. Hindustan Times prints it and suddenly it’s fact?
I agree.
Most of these folks are cannon fodder, ex: https://www.euronews.com/2023/09/08/up-to-3400-per-month-meet-the-spanish-company-recruiting-fighters-for-ukraine
We’re also recruiting really heavy in South America: Columbia, Brazil...
But you have high end US and UK firms that are in that business and they pay very, very well. These firms change their names faster than you change your underwear, but they are essentially being paid by the US and UK government through a third party so it’s not directly the USG hiring mercenaries.
