Former MSNBC host Chris Matthews said Wednesday on “Morning Joe” that people have to get out and vote to beat “rural people out there voting their craziness about the cult.”
Anchor Mika Brzezinski said, “Iowa is days away, New Hampshire is coming up, and Donald Trump, given this conversation, even, is the clear front-runner. ”
Matthews said, “You know, I think President Biden gave a good speech on Friday. I think he began the conversation about the Constitution and democracy. but i think he has to turn the corner and go to the next step. the reason we love our democracy, the reason we all love it is if we don’t like the government and they’re doing something, we can do something about it.”
He continued, “You have to vote to protect your rights in the Constitution, the Bill of Rights was put there by Jefferson and Madison because people said, the Constitution and democracy is not enough. We have to write in here our Bill of Rights. Voters have to get out there and say, dammit, if I’m a young person, a black person, if I’m out on the streets and I don’t trust the cops, I have to vote that way. If I’m a woman and I want to protect myself and my decisions, I have to vote that way.”

BUMP
Well said.
Never know ... Harvard and all
This guy apparently grew up in Pennsylvania. I’d love to see him come to my neck of the woods in PA, and say this kinda cr@p.
He’s a leftist DB, plain and simple!
Just like the Civil War, “Rural” South full of “Hicks” vs. the “Enlightened” Industrial North.
I highly doubt Matthews is a DeSantis supporter.
Neither are most "DeSantis supporters".
“The university of Illinois predicts farmers will see negative returns on crops this year. They could be as high as $160/acre on corn and $107/acre on beans“
That’ll teach em
They really think the world revolves around them.
Anyone who is not a government supremacist is in a cult.
Well, then they aren’t DeSantis supporters.
Gets a tingle with every abortion. Papa must be proud he didn’t abort.
The crazy leftist bastids have no idea what they are talking about.
We are coming for 'em.
if you live rural, you don’t have any rights. that’s exactly what he is saying. that IS retarded.
As a Kansas farmer/rancher I can say: “Very well written”.
“Could have sworn he died.”
You know, I have the same vague, though clearly false, memory of that. Like he checked out with leukemia or something like that. Oh, well, I guess not... due is apparently alive and still getting Obama thrills up his leg.
Mathews seems to want to defeat the strong tendency many “rural people” have on an important aspect of voting, and that is “common sense”.
Say the people living in Third World conditions in cities.
beat “rural people out there voting their craziness about the cult.”
Dividing Americans into Rural vs Urban, for the next civil war, isn’t going to work out well for the Urban. History has been fairly convincing from before the Roman Legions that the Rural armies are always the biggest threat. The Romans recognized that Rural people didn’t require the same ‘intensity’ of training for the legions. In the US civil war all of the successes for the Union were with the Western Union Army, and it’s Rural kids. It wasn’t till they moved a Ohio Country boy in to break Vicksburg, save the Western Army at Chattanooga, and then turned the hapless Army of the Potomac into killers, that war turned and the South was defeated.
Only an idiot, who has no understanding of history, the sensitivity of constant transport for Urban survival and it’s sensitivity to blockade, would pit Rural versus Urban in a conflict or stir trouble along those lines......then their is Matthews. Me thinks that tingle he has on his leg is from incontinence, and it goes along with Matthews incompetence.
