Biden admin to remove statue of William Penn from Philadelphia park and 'rehabilitate' the park to commemorate Native Americans

Joe Biden's National Park Service under Interior Secretary Deb Haaland will remove the statue of William Penn from the park erected in 1982 to commemorate the 300th anniversary of his founding of the colony of Pennsylvania. The park is on the site of his original home in Philadelphia.

The park, located in Philadelphia near the Delaware River at Sansom and Second Streets, will be "rehabilitated" and that proposal will include an "expanded interpretation of the Native American history of Philadelphia." The plan was "developed in consultations with the representatives of the indigenous nations of the Haudenosaunee, the Delaware Nation, Delaware Tribe of Indians, the Shawnee Tribe, and the Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma."

With that logic, we could do away with the Jefferson Memorial in DC, and we could rename Mt. Vernon in Virginia.

Leave Billy Penn alone and ADD more statuary of Native Americans and more information plaques.

By the way, they ignored the local Leni Lenape tribe, whose language is reflected in many of the Philadelphia street and neighborhood names, such as Wissahickon, Moyamensing, Passyunk, etc.

We need to sue the instigators personally for bias against our traditions, culture and history.

So what, white folks were not the only ones who owned slaves in the day, some of the largest slave owners were black. Back in those times whites and blacks were slaves in this country and to destroy the past to be politically correct or woke is no different than what the Taliban or ISIS has done or is doing.

What this administration is doing is destroying everything that built this nation. Nothing good will come of this except for the communists agenda of their continuing fracturing of our country.
