An oil refinery inside Iran went up in flames over the weekend, triggering several massive explosions.
The state-run Islamic Republic News Agency, or IRNA, said that all 18 reservoirs at the refinery in eastern Iran’s Birjand special economic zone caught fire.
“The initial stages of the fire consumed 1.5 million litres of fuel,” Iranian officials said.
The Jerusalem Post reported that Iranian officials were leaning toward letting the fire burn itself out because it was too dangerous for firefighters to get close enough to attempt to extinguish it.
There was no indication of what caused the fire or whether it was an accident or sabotage. Iran had not yet tried to blame anyone.
While it could have been an accident, it’s worth noting that the fire — which easily caused millions of dollars in damage — comes as Iranian-backed terrorists in Yemen have attacked Israeli shipping vessels over the past few weeks, causing damage to the ships and hijacking another.
The Houthi terrorists vowed over the weekend that they would increase their attacks on ships going to Israel in response to Israel destroying Hamas terrorist forces inside Gaza.
The Houthis “will prevent navigating all the ships heading to the Zionist entity from any nationality, if the food and medicine keep not accessing the Gaza Strip, and the will become a legitimate target for our armed forces,” said Houthi terrorist spokesperson Yahya Sare’e. The terrorist said that any ship headed toward Israel or affiliated with Israel would be targeted by the terror group.
Egypt is on the very brink of imploding. They’re in no shape to carry out a military action, even a minor one.
The ONLY thing Egypt will do is keep Hamas from FLEEING into Egypt.
Egypt HATES HAMAS.
Hamas currently has no where to go. They can not go east. They can not go north or west. Their only option is to try and sneak across into Egypt by bribing the Egyptians.
The leaders MAY be able to do this if they bring along suitcases of US DOLLARS and EUROS or GOLD.
Egypt is not going to engage the IDF.
Agreed.
(hint Iran, it's the Jooooooooooooos, it's always the Joooooooooos!)
Yes, they will have a problem if the Palestinians feel to Egypt. BTW, why don't any of these countries offer to take the Palis? Why? Because the Palis are trouble makers and no one wants them.
In 2012, during the Arab Spring, Palestinians(Hamas) was crossing the border from Gaza and causing problems in Egypt. So, over the course of a year the Egyptian army flooded 32 tunnels with sea water so stop Hamas from coming into their country.
The Syrians do not want them. They have enough refugees of their own.
What the Egyptians fear is that when Israel closes the net on Hamas in southern Gaza they will be overwelmned by refugees fleeing south into Egypt.
btt
Not the whole country. The Iranian people who have not been radicalized (a powerless majority, sadly) are pro western and worthy of support. Instead make a list of all the mullahs and bad actors and execute surgical missile strikes on their homes and offices, all within a 12-24 hour period. Bring the government to its knees in one day. Execute a Marshal Plan like strategy to rebuild their government/economy with civilized values and outlaw any radical elements under penalty of death.
Perhaps they could wander around the Sinai for forty years?
I don't see that as any threat. Israel would love for Egypt to take over the administration of Garza.
Egypt is not that stupid. They know their people would be targeted just as much as the IDF.
I would guess that if the situation in the southern Red Sea deteriorates enough that traffic through the Suez Canal diminishes, the Egyptians would be pretty hacked at the Houthis. The transit fees for large ships are themselves huge, ranging from USD $400,000 to $700,000:
IIRC in 2022 Egypt took in over $8 billion from this source.
The last I’d read, Iran was still a net refined oil products importer...
Are there any Iranian tanks in Syria? Seems possible...
Oh well, only three more to go.
Inshallah.................
Was having a conversation with a Yemeni who supports the Houthi on a site. he believes that the Houthi will destroy the US Fleet, and sail into Elat (Southern Israel) and march into Tel Aviv and defeat Israel. LOL, they have a navy of speed boats, the US Navy would sink them all. If they march through Saudi Arabia, the US will fry them all. These people can’t understand that we defeated Saddam who had the 4th largest military in the world with 2 and 1/2 divisions. We committed very little and dispatched him. Houthis have the equivilent of what? Less than a corp level no real air force, no navy and no understanding of military tactics? They have no idea what is coming to them if they make this move.
