JAKARTA, Indonesia – Indonesia’s Marapi volcano in the West Sumatra province erupted on Sunday, sending a thick plume of toxic ash and smoke nearly 10,000 feet into the air and was accompanied by a deafening roar that could be heard for miles, according to the country’s disaster management agency.
Indonesia’s National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB) said in a news release that the nearly 9,500-foot volcano began erupting just before 3 p.m. local time Sunday, and volcanic ash rain from the eruption was reported to have occurred in the Nagari Lasi area of the Canduang District in West Sumatra’s Agam Regency.

I thought it was some other volcano in Iceland that was ready to blow. Global warming/cooling/boiling here we come. We will all have to give up our gas stoves and vehicles to compensate for the earth doing what it wishes.

It’s OK. My neighbor just bought an electric car, so I think the global warming thing is under control.

This one has potential to block infrared due to the sulphur particles in the ejecta. The closer to the equator, the greater the impact on temps worldwide. Think Pinatubo compared to St Helens. The former cooled the planet. The latter had neglible impact.

Climate committee holds meeting how can we blame humans and the oil companies for this. Global Warming softened the Earth’s mantle, weakening the mantle enough to permit the magma to break through

-70 climbers were on the mountain when the eruption happened and they got trapped in the area.
- Rescue teams were able to rescue 28 climbers while 42 others are still trapped in the mountain.

I expect NASA or NOAA to come out with complete orbital studies showing that we’ve got no real problem with Marapi IF we address cow fart expansion which is REALLY our problem for the environment.
