House Speaker Mike Johnson is much less wealthy than other members of Congress.
He doesn't trade any stocks and has a home mortgage valued between $250,000 and $500,000.
He's made more than $120,000 since 2018 teaching online classes at Liberty University.
The new speaker of the House is not as wealthy as most of his colleagues.
That's perhaps the biggest insight one can draw from eight years of financial disclosures filed by Rep. Mike Johnson since 2016, when he first ran to represent Louisiana's 4th congressional district.

Being “poor” is not a sign of honesty. Honesty is a sign of honesty.

these fake news CLOWNS will probe this guy 10,000 times more than they did Hunter or Joe or fake doctor Jill or Schumer or Pelosi or Newsome.
His crime: being a conservative.
I won’t be surprised if some jackball prosecutor in New Orleans brings charges against him just like the moronic charges against Trump in NYC.
Lawfare against conservative Republicans is now part of the landscape until there are severe consequences for the Demon Rats.

Geez, where is the deep dive into the finances of Democrats when they take office?

He should rush out and put down $2.75M for a house. In cash. See if the media thinks that’s at all odd. Would that sort of behavior deserve an investigation? [shrug] Who is to say?

A guy like this doesn’t belong in the swamp. That must be why the swamp creatures hate him.

Meanwhile, Sandy Cortez went from raiding the tip jar in a cheap dive to being a multi-millionaire in just a couple of years of being a congressthing.

The deep state will make every effort to find dirt on the new speaker. Then they will start creating it. Expect accusers to start coming forward to report malfeasances shortly. The allegations will be old enough and sufficiently vague as to make denying them almost impossible. Count on it.

Lots of good signs about this guy Johnson so far - we may have gotten lucky.

Because this guy has a direct impact on our taxes, as do all members of Congress. I'd like to see financial reports on every single one of them - how are they making their money? Who's paying them? Are they rich and if so, how did they get their money? Was it at our expense?
To: Mariner
I am shocked.

He is not poor.
But he does seem to have shunned the traditional, more then slightly shady, ways that most congresscritters choose to enrich themselves.
It has always puzzled me how people can go into government in debt and in less then a decade become multimillionaires.
