FReeper Canteen ~ Sunday Chapel ~ A CHEERFUL HEART IS GOOD MEDICINE - 15 October 2023
Serving The Best Troops and Veterans In The World !! | The Canteen Crew

Posted on 10/14/2023 5:03:13 PM PDT by Kathy in Alaska

A CHEERFUL HEART IS GOOD MEDICINE

Proverbs 17:22

A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

Which came first the chicken or the egg? We may never know the answer to this question, but when it comes to living a fulfilled life, the joy precedes the good feelings. As a matter of fact, the joy is the antidote to the woes of life. Humor is great medicine. Humor helps us to see the big picture. It provides us with a new context by which to view our situation. It gives us a different vantage point which we can use to reevaluate life. Humor gives us reasons to feel good!

My prayer today is that we find humor in all of life.

LT Brian J. C. Haley, CHC, USNR

Hey there, radu!

I’m having wifi problems....still...so hoping you’ll get this before it leaves me again tonight. I’m not doing tunes [this for Kathy, too] as last time I tried, I didn’t even get the first one done.

We did meet up with Mark on our University of Texas/Permian Basin [UTPB] and he gave us some eclipse glasses and we also watched on the monitor he had set up to record it. We had a great visit and learned stuff from someone who knows a lot about weather and stuff. He even introduced me on a segment of Fox Weather Live when he was giving an Odessa update. LOL! Of course I couldn’t find it to send to you. It was a GREAT day! Even though I had to get up reeeally early.

How were things at the museum. I’ll read your post if this one goes through and you answer. If I disappear, you’ll know why. :)

Dang! Your WiFi STILL isn’t working right? That stinks!

Glad you had a good time with Mark. Great that he had some glasses with him so you could see the eclipse directly, even though you watched the monitor as well.

We didn’t get to see as much of the sun eclipsed here but about half of it was covered. I took my glasses to the museum so I could watch a little and shared them with a few of our guests too.

It was a busy weekend at the museum and I’m whipped. Tennessee Crossroads re-airing the piece they did on us last week has been a big bump.
Yesterday was really busy for a Friday and the four of us kept going non-stop. Just a tad fewer people today but there were only two of us working so we were really hoppin’. It was a blast but I’m glad I don’t have to get up early tomorrow, and I can stay home. LOL Da tootsies are burnin’ tonight.

The highlight of the whole weekend was this afternoon when Devon showed up out of the blue. He’s the one with the British APC and you KNOW I was ready for another ride! LOL It is SO much fun.

Sounds like you had a great weekend, too, as well as a busy one. I’ll bet you are ready to hit the pillows like I am. By tomorrow evening I’m gonna be one crabby gal. LOL!

This wifi problem is really getting on my last nerve. I guess we’ll have to call them again. Thank goodness they didn’t charge us last time. I wanted to take off some $$$ for the days we had none. :)

Good evening, ETR, and Shavua Tov to you and yours.

I know it’s serious, but, man, are those B-52s awesome to see!

Thanks for the link.

Yes, it really was a great weekend. A little nippy today with the wind whipping out of the north but not unbearable. The only downside was we didn’t get any rain with this cold front. We’re SO dry.

I’m not too far from calling it a night. Too many short nights this week and being so busy the past two days is catching up. LOL

Yep, I’d say another call is in order to get your ‘net working again! I hope they don’t put it off for days like they did this past week. You need it now!

It was “nippy” here, too...and Mark showed up in shorts and a short sleeve t-shirt with the Fox logo on it, which he couldn’t cover up, because he was also doing work for them. He spent a lot of time in his rental with the heater on. LOL! I wore cords and a jacket. First time this year. We still haven’t turned the heater on. Just can’t bring myself to heat ANYthing yet.

I’ll say nighty-night now. You will be heading out soon, and as soon as this show is over...as long as the wifi holds up this time...I’ll be going too. See ya tomorrow!

For a weather guy, Mark missed the mark on what to take with him to TX. LOL He could have had a long-sleeve t-shirt to wear under the FOX t-shirt and he would have been more comfortable. I wore a long-sleeve t-shirt under my museum t-shirts this weekend, though I took a jacket along today. Good thing because I needed it when I put the flags and open signs out this morning and brought them in this afternoon. That wind was rough.

Get some good sleep tonight. Your alarm depends on it. LOL
I’ll be up a while I guess. Things just cranked up in Gaza. Steve picked the wrong time to stream all day.

Catch ya tomorrow.

Howdy, E.G.C. ((HUGZ))

It doesn’t look like it was a toasty day yesterday. Did the cooler weather make Gizmo frisky?

Well, yesterday A part of the fence opened up and Gizmo escaped but luckily I saw him in the alley and brought him back in.

I fixed the fence afterwards. I just went outside to check it and everything looks OK.

South Central Pennsylvania received another “good soaker” Saturday of just over one inch; again coming in “pulses” of heavy downpours interrupted by light showers, or maybe the other way ‘round.

Steve’s been on the air for many nighttime hours and yesterday he mostly just sat there because nothing was happening. Then the live stream died and there wasn’t another one at the time. He has to purchase access to those so he can use on YT and not get “fined”. So he decided to actually get some nighttime sleep, I reckon. His stream back now with the new stream that he found, and I like this perspective better!

I even made a comment on Mark’s last live stream that our high was only going to be 73. Men simply don’t listen. LOL!

We even...finally...turned our heat on in the middle of last night. I was so chilled, even with Peaches next to me, I couldn’t sleep.

The alarm survived. LOL! But I am already looking forward to my nap this afternoon. See ya later! Enjoy sleeping in. Lucky!

Ruh roh. Sneaky lil Giz, finding a spot he could slip through the fence. At least you found him and managed to fix that spot.
