A recent Gallup poll found that Americans trust the GOP more than the Democrats on the economy by the largest margin in more than three decades. More than half of Americans, 53%, trust the GOP, compared to 39% who say they trust the Democrats. It wasn’t the only issue Republicans had a significant advantage on, either, but the economy tends to be one of the most, if not the most important issue that tips an election one way or another.
And as bad as things look for Joe Biden and the Democrats now, next year could be even worse. According to a Fox Business report, “a growing amount of data indicates that a gigantic economic crisis could be right around the corner,” and one such indicator suggests a crash comparable to the Great Depression.
“When President Biden entered the White House in January 2021, it appeared that the economic crisis caused by the pandemic lockdowns would end soon. A COVID-19 vaccine had been developed, and many states had already started re-opening or preparing to re-open their economies,” writes Justin Haskins at Fox Business. “But rather than return spending to normal levels, Biden and congressional Democrats – with the blessing of the Federal Reserve – opted to keep government expenditures significantly higher than they had been prior to the pandemic.”
Because of that, inflation reached historically high levels, causing the prices of almost everything to skyrocket. In an effort to “fix” the problem, the Fed started increasing interest rates last year, but the Biden administration hasn’t reduced spending. “As a result of these policies, the inflation rate has dropped, but not enough to deflate prices. Most consumer goods and services, as well as rent and housing prices, remain much higher than they were before the pandemic started,”

In the 1930s, when the money supply annual rate turned negative, prices dropped as well. In our current situation, prices are still going up despite the collapse in the money supply. To the extent we’re seeing it today, this has never occurred before.

There are two things U noticed the author totally glossed over:
1. He is assuming that the 2024 elections are going to be fair. Well, the systemin place in 2020 is STILL IN PLACE in 2024.
2. He mentione the Great Depression. Yet, Despite the great depression of the 1930’s, FDR got re-elected — MORE THAN TWICE !!
Don’t be so sure. Carter-1980-he paid the price. The rats have since learned. Now the MSM just blows it off. I could see it when Clinton was bad news.
The money supply ballooned in the early days of COVID, but you didn't see price inflation at the time because money velocity dropped to almost zero. You even had the President of the United States begging Russia and Saudi Arabia to cut oil production to keep the U.S. energy sector from collapsing as oil prices dropped off a cliff.

I said since the pandemic started that is planted the seeds of a commercial real estate collapse the likes of which we’ve never seen before.
And I think people are starting to see it. The company I worked at occupied 14 floors of a major skyscraper in downtown louisville. Their least expired and they are now moving back to their old digs which is an old Sears store. The building is a miniature version of the same Sears store that Amazon occupies in seattle.
The Great Depression started under Hoover in 1929. FDR was elected in response to the Great Depression in 1932

What we seeing now is cost push inflation driven by bad US policy Energy policy overinflating energy costs world wide. it is aggravated by reckless US spending since 2021 on things like the Ukraine war funding and “build back better” and “the inflation reduction act”
If the US Government had followed sane polices starting in 2021 instead of Alt Left socialist spending dogmas, the Covid money would not be an issue.
What the US Governments did was seeing an inflation fire start to burn in 2021, they dumped gas on it.
Yep on 1. IMHO nope on 2. Because FDR wasn't in the WH at the beginning of the Great Depression the Dims were able to market it as not being their fault -- they said that FDR was just cleaning up a big mess and needs to keep giving out free government money. With the current downturn the Dims can promise free money, but they can't say the downturn started before Brandon. They have to work extra hard to blame it on Trump.
I am pessimistic about the honesty of the upcoming election.
But it will be interesting is Joe is essentially unable to campaign due to his dementia, if all economic figures are historically bad, if opinion polls show seething anger at Democrat incompetence, if Trump is having massive enthusiastic rallies all over the country — and if 100 million ballots are tallied for Joe.
Will anyone do anything?
As long as cheat-by-mail-in ballots are still allowed in 2024, it’s game over for any MAGA candidate.
I’m really curious to see how RFK Jr and Corny West figure in this mix.
I have faith that the GOP will overcome this problem and pull defeat from the jaws of victory again.
