Howdy, Kathy.

Another beautiful sunny day up there today, though clouds seem to be moving in. It was nice that it was clear last night. Some aurora action in the sky for a bit. Not real intense but it was pretty.

Were things toned down enough today that you’ll be able to relax a bit this evening?

Howdy, PRO.

Is Robin putting together a list of fall chores for you to do, or do you get a break this year? :-)

Ready to Go

Bible in a Year:

I desire to depart and be with Christ . . . but it is more necessary . . . that I remain.

Philippians 1:23–24

During the coronavirus pandemic, many suffered the loss of loved ones. On November 27, 2020, our family joined their ranks when Bee Crowder, my ninety-five-year-old mom, died—though not from Covid-19. Like so many other families, we weren’t able to gather to grieve Mom, honor her life, or encourage one another. Instead, we used other means to celebrate her loving influence—and we found great comfort from her insistence that, if God called her home, she was ready and even eager to go. That confident hope, evidenced in so much of Mom’s living, was also how she faced death.

Facing possible death, Paul wrote, “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. . . . I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body” (Philippians 1:21, 23–24). Even with his legitimate desire to stay and help others, Paul was drawn to his heavenly home with Christ.

Such confidence changes how we view the moment when we step from this life to the next. Our hope can give great comfort to others in their own season of loss. Although we grieve the loss of those we love, believers in Jesus don’t grieve like those “who have no hope” (1 Thessalonians 4:13). True hope is the possession of those who know Him. .

Reflect & Pray

How would you describe your response to the threatening realities in our world? How could intentional hope change your outlook on the struggles of life?

God of all hope, please remind me of Jesus’ death-conquering victory.

Hi radu, I put down the last fertilizer down on her lawns yesterday, the cooler weather is making the lawns go dormant so not as much mowing anymore.

I'm sure we'll find stuff to do as the weather turns.

We're back into the 80's this week, feels good, cooler temps coming soon though.

How's things your way?

Nice not needing to mow so often, isn’t it? As much as I hate winter, I’m looking forward to leaving Champ in the garage for a few months.

Yeah, I’d say it’s a pretty safe bet Robin will come up with something to keep you busy. LOL

We’re about to cool off for a few days, then warm back up to upper 70s and low 80s next week. That’s where we should be this time of year. It’s going to be right chilly this weekend so maybe we’ll be busy at the museum.

The Real Story Behind Saving Private Ryan: The Niland Brothers

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vQHYVA_OCQ

Saving Private Ryan set the standard for World War II movies since its release in 1998. However, very few know that the story of the Niland Brothers formed the base of Steven Spielberg’s masterpiece. The Niland Brothers were four brothers that served in the US Army during World War II. Within a month, three of the four brothers were either killed or missing in action. The remaining brother, Frederick Niland, inspired the character of James F. Ryan played by Matt Damon in the movie Saving Private Ryan. In this video we dive into the stories of the Niland Brothers and walk in their footsteps on the Battlefields of Normandy. Many thanks to the Niland Family for correspondence as we worked on this video.

We got 1/2" of rain this afternoon with lots of wind and a bit of hail that didn't hurt anything. The guys were working on that tree all day, and the sound of those huge branches hitting the ground IN OUR YARD [because most of it hung over our yard] was very unsettling. Ruined my chance of a nap. This was taken before they started cutting down the huge branch parts that sounded like bombs when they hit the ground. LOL!

I know...you deal with this stuff all the time, but this is the first huge tree so close to the house that has had to be removed. All of it. There is still some to do tomorrow, which I don't look forward to. LOL! Believe it or not, the little greenhouse is still standing! :)

Howdy, luvie.

WOOHOO on your rain this afternoon. I happened to pull up the radar at the right time and saw that one spot of heavy rain sitting over your town. That ought to make your grass happy.

DA-YUM!!! They sure made a mess in your yard!! I’d be furious! Yes, we’ve had to deal with tree messes over the years but they were our trees. Not someone else’s.
