~The FReeper Canteen Presents~

Road Trip: Fort Novosel, Alabama

ALftnovosel2

Fort Novosel (formerly Fort Rucker) is a United States Army post located primarily in Dale County, Alabama, United States. It is named in honor of Chief Warrant Officer Michael J. Novosel, an Army aviator and Medal of Honor recipient. It was previously named for a Civil War officer, Confederate Colonel Edmund Rucker.

The post is the primary flight training installation for U.S. Army Aviators and is home to the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence (USAACE) and the United States Army Aviation Museum.

The U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence is the dominant military facility at Fort Novosel. Training, doctrine, and testing are all key parts of the center's mission to develop Army Aviation's capabilities. All Army Aviation training has been undertaken at Fort Novosel since 1973, as well as training of United States Air Force (USAF) and ally helicopter pilots and air crew.

The center is home to the U.S. Army Aviation Technical Test Center (ATTC), which conducts developmental aircraft testing for Army Aviation. The United States Army Operational Test and Evaluation Command's Test and Evaluation Coordination Office and TH-67 Creek primary and instrument training are both located at Cairns Army Airfield.

ALftnovosel5

Operational units on the post include the 1st Aviation Brigade and the 110th Aviation Brigade handling Army Aviation training, and the USAF 23d Flying Training Squadron for the training of Air Force helicopter pilots and air crew.

ALftnovosel4

Additionally, due to the large number of warrant officers stationed there, the Warrant Officer Candidate School and Warrant Officer Career College are both located at Fort Novosel. Aviation branched warrant officers remain at Fort Novosel to complete flight training and the Aviation Warrant Officer Basic Course. Upon completion of their training, aviation warrant officers receive the Army Aviator Badge.

Support and other facilities at Fort Novosel include the Lyster Army Health Clinic, United States Army Aeromedical Research Lab, United States Army School of Aviation Medicine, and the United States Army Combat Readiness/Safety Center.

Thanks!

Tuesday morning looks like the temperature won’t kiss 70 until early afternoon. Perfect weather for finally getting around to sectioning some of the “windfall” tree tops that came down over the summer. One totally junk but huge diameter silver maple and two useable ash tops.

Won’t be burning those until 2026-27.

Howdy, PRO.

Did you have a good weekend? Fall temps moving in like they are here? We have a brief warm-up this weekend, then back to more comfy temps next week.

Hiya radu!

Another great weekend, did the usual visit to Robin, son and the pups.

Yeah, we're definitely into Fallish temps but still sunny and gorgeous!

I was actually for the first time today since June able to turn my A/C off around 3:00 and open my doors and turn on a box fan to cool things, feels good.

Looking forward we're going to be in a 75 degree day pattern for awhile, just right!

September 19

Faithful but Not Forgotten

Bible in a Year:

These were all commended for their faith.

Hebrews 11:39 home. He often felt lonely and abandoned. A couple who lived nearby, however, reached out to Sean. They took him into their home and got their children to be “big brother” and “big sister” to him, which gave Sean assurance that he was loved. They also took him to church, where Sean, now a confident young man, is a youth leader today.

Although this couple played such a key role in turning a young life around, what they did for Sean isn’t widely known to most people in their church family. But God knows, and I believe their faithfulness will be rewarded someday, as will those listed in the Bible’s “Hall of Faith.” Hebrews 11 starts with the big names of Scripture, but it goes on to speak of countless others we may never know, yet who “were all commended for their faith” (v. 39). And “the world,” says the writer, “was not worthy of them” (v. 38).

Even when our deeds of kindness go unnoticed by others, God sees and knows. What we do might seem like a small thing—a kind deed or an encouraging word—but God can use it to bring glory to His name, in His time, and in His way. He knows, even if others don’t.

Reflect & Pray

What is one simple thing you could do for someone today? How can you remind yourself that God knows your heart and the work of your hands?

Heavenly Father, please continue to show me what good works You’ve prepared for me to do, and give me the faith to do it for You alone.

Ooooo, your weather sounds perfect. We’ve had a taste of that the past couple of days but I kept the windows closed. Too much ragweed pollen in the air. ah-CHOO!
We’ll have to settle for low to mid 80s awhile before we get to enjoy the 70s you’re enjoying.

Now that it’s cooling off at last, are you and your son planning to head out to the shooting range for some fun any time soon? :-)

Son just works too much so it’ll be hit and miss (see what I did there? 😁) for gun range time, we’ll get there this Fall.
