Soon we will all be living in food deserts.

Not to worry. They’re building mega-warehouses all over the place here - all are empty. My guess is future government distribution centers. If you have the right social credit.

Some people deserve food deserts. They create them. They deserve them.

Of course this situation will affect all of us but the people hit hardest are the lower middle class and poor that live in the rougher neighborhoods.
God help them and God help us all.

“They are doing this to resell the items online”
The national-brand items were probably being sold to crooked or ignorant retailers. If these retailers tried to sell Giant-brand items the public would notice.

I feel bad for the store owners and staff as they are the victims. When the residents lose their stores many of us don’t give a damn, they voted for it.

I really loved my friends who worked at SFW or what I called the Shvartza's Food Warehouse. My favorite of these was a charming, bright lady - a big African American woman - whom I always greeted happily.
She told me about the situation there, and what she did about it.
Of course, employees were not, under any circumstances, allowed to chase down, accost, confront, or even address shoplifters.
Here's what she did:
She rushed out of the store, past them, toward some imagined emergency, and bumped them - accidentally. Innocently.
"I guess I'm just not coordinated," she told me with a smile.
Many a cake wound up on the floor, ruined...
And unusable to any party.
"At least, if the food is gone, they ain't gonna have it either."
I liked her style.

Why not have a security guard monitor the store, could be remote, and if someone is shop lifting they would lock the outer doors so the thieves can’t leave and once the thieves get to the external door, close and lock the interior door as you call the cops

The makeup/beauty chain (sapphora ?spelling? I think is the name of it) that the stepdaughter works at has a lot of theft by teenagers and the employees are not supposed to confront them about the makeup theft under threat of being fired.
But the employees are subject to being searched including their purse every time they leave the store.!?!
WTF kinda policy is that ????
IMO the employees should be armed and have the option to fix the problem. But I’m just one of those Bible/White/blahblahblah/angry/conservative/males so I must be wrong.

Things have gotten infinitely better since we took prayer out of schools and banned the Ten Commandments on public property. We have failed John Adams by becoming a grossly immoral and irreligious people; we are reaping what was sowed when we abandoned morals and religion.

I don’t mind shopping at ACE mostly they are well staffed, the sales people actually have a clue too.
I just wish they would not charge 25% more than the home on the down low stores

Some jewelry stores have locked doors, a doorbell and a phone number to call. Inside are four workers with smiles. I asked a worker why her store had locked doors and a doorbell. She said thefts for jewelry stores are daily, locked doors are necessary, and her business is increasing. Maybe supermarkets will have to do the same at jewelry stores.

Here in Tulsa, a guy who runs a restaurant was stealing stuff from Sam's via a scan and run app. He was filling his basket full and only scanning some of the items. He says he's innocent.
Self serve is tailor made for theft. One might think.
Tally's Cafe owner Talal Jamil Alame was arrested and charged with six counts of larceny according to court documents.
The documents say four of the charges are misdemeanors for stealing under $1000 while the other two are felonies. The charges stem from 19 incidents at different Sam's Clubs.
According to the affidavit, Alame used the Scan and Go feature on the Sam's Club app at stores in Owasso and Tulsa scanning a few items and leaving the rest not scanned. It says he walked out of the store with multiple items that he did not purchase. Store officials started looking into it and involved police when employees said it appeared Alame had more items in his cart than on his receipt. Investigators used digital receipts and surveillance videos to look into the claims.
