DeSantis says election fraud theories promoted by Trump ‘did not prove to be true’
NBC News ^ | 8/4/2023 | Allan Smith, Alec Hernández and Henry J. Gomez

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Friday offered his strongest dismissal of the election fraud theories at the heart of former President Donald Trump's push to overturn the 2020 election.

Asked by a reporter during a campaign stop in Iowa whether the 2020 election was "stolen," DeSantis said the fraud theories "did not prove to be true." He did not, however, mention the name of his top rival for the GOP nomination, who was just indicted for allegedly working to overturn the last presidential election.

"I've said many times the election is what it is," DeSantis said. "All those theories that were put out did not prove to be true. But what I've also said is the way you conduct a good election that people have confidence in, you don't change the rules in the middle of the game."

DeSantis went on to talk up changes made to Florida election law under his administration. And he criticized Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg's grants for election administration, as well as social media outlets for deemphasizing information from President Joe Biden's son Hunter Biden's laptop ahead of the 2020 vote — two favorite targets of conservatives when excoriating the last presidential election.

To be fair, the DOJ has no authority to investigate allegations of “voter fraud” that are based on violations of STATE election laws. From what I have seen, all of the strongest cases that could be brought on Trump’s behalf involve state election law violations. This is why it was imperative for those state legislatures to get involved back in 2020.

Trump supporters will never accept this. It doesn’t matter how many boards of elections, courts of law and state legislatures have rejected the argument. By saying this, DeSantis is persona non gratis with Trump’s supporters. This may be necessary for the country, but is political suicide. I expect a white knight to be nominated, like Mike Pompeo or Greg Abbott, or else the Republican Party will lose again in 2024.

They’re just the Washington Generals. They exist purely so the democrats have a boogie man. They’re like pro athletes who lose the big game. At the end of the day they still get paid and go home to their mansions.

That didn’t happen solely because of Trump’s pick of really really good attorneys. And why did Trump go cheap on recounts? Waiting for a court to order them via his really really good attorneys instead of paying for them himself was stupid move. He went cheap and reaped the consequences.

Sounds like just another statist.

I think you have it all wrong here. The recounts were pointless — for the reasons I pointed out back in November 2020. If the election fraud is based on ballots (potentially millions of them) that were cast illegally, then recounting the same stupid ballots over and over again doesn’t change anything.

The court system was the wrong place to remedy the malfeasance in the 2020 election — because there simply wasn’t sufficient time to do a forensic audit of the election processes in all of those states.

The venue for fixing the problem in 2020 was the state legislatures, not the courts.

Agree! And I think they USSC was trying to say state legislatures do your duty. Unfortunately some of the state legislatures like Pennsylvania, Georgia and in 2020 Michigan were controlled by old corrupt many termed Republican Bulls who couldn’t be bothered. Too many voter don’t view voting of their legislatures as serious; that was taken advantage of! The thing that annoys me is the USSC was willing to step in and set aside the legislatures prerogative on voting when it came to race which was necessary. To me its equally discriminatory to have ones right to vote and vote annulled by fraud!

DeSantis fixed Florida.

Voters got rid of the activist judges in North Carolina.

That's two states. We need to do more.

But based on what DeSantis said about Trump, there should have been nothing to fix, right?

You threw up a bunch of false information...

and showed it, because you aren’t providing cases to back up there were real recounts allowed by the courts, with trials and judgements by the court,

So you’re showing your information and statements can’t be trusted again.

Our nation that many of us fought for and lost men has gone to h-—. Our Federal Govt is full of punk thugs. Obama and Biden have trashed this nation our founding fathers fought for. Clinton pushed DADT, and; our military is WOKE and LGBT. Biden has robbed our military munitions and much more. This spending is killing us slowly.

Do you ever look in the mirror or think before you write?

Did Trump pay for any statewide recounts, such as Wisconsin? Nope. Arizona? Nope. Elsewhere? Nope.

It is lame to say he relied on courts to order them and then went cheap on his really really good choice of attorneys that got laughed at nearly everywhere.

But you like to claim offense instead of addressing the questions and facts available. Sad, your loss.

How does one get 10 million more votes than he did the first time and lose? How did decrepit old biden get more votes than obama? Why did they stop counting returns ON election night followed by ballot dumps at 3:00 am in states where they needed them most? First time in history they randomly send out 80 million unsolicited ballots. That’s 80 MILLION. Ballots do not = votes. Why were states like Pennsylvania allowed to change election rules? Just wait Ron cause they’ll be coming for you too if by chance you start catching up to Trump. They’re already gunning for you. And questioning what your wife did with Hurricane Ian money. Just Wait…. The media hates you too.
