Michigan voters have long played a pivotal role in presidential elections, until now.
The House Elections Committee in Lansing recently approved House Bill 156, legislation which would enroll Michigan in the so-called “National Popular Vote Interstate Compact,” which could soon be taken up on the House Floor.
It may sound innocent, but National Popular Vote is a left-wing scheme to take over states’ elections and fundamentally transform our constitutional system for electing presidents. If implemented, it would surrender Michigan’s considerable influence in this process to large population centers of the East and West coasts of the country.

It is amazing how elected state legislators are rushing to neuter themselves and give away their own power
Then again, their ideology promotes men to cut off their penis in an ultimate sign of ideological purity, so we shouldn’t be surprised.
I’ve read that that “compact” is unconstitutional because states can’t do things lie that without Congressional consent. For example: The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is a body that controls roads, bridges, airports and ports in both states. It exists because Congress gave its approval.
And the first time a Republican wins the national vote, states in this compact would jump up and down saying it’s unconstitutional and the electoral college must be used, especially if the dem would win using this method.
Cake and eat it too..
Getting rid of the electoral college would mean election campaigns would be held only in New York, and California.
I could almost see that as a benefit, since ALL of the electoral college votes go to the winner in those 2 states, even if 49% of the vote are against.
The problem is that those states have so any electoral college electors. The GOP starts with over a hundred vote disadvantage.
I’d rather see a state be split up or change to one electoral vote PER DISTRICT (get rid of winner-take-all)
Yet they try to convince us that MI is a blue State.
Let’s say Trump wins the election. But Michigan voted for Biden. So Michigan is required to override the will of their voters by giving all the EVs to Trump?
No...it would be New York,Kalifornia,Texas,Florida and Illinois.
It’s a blue state thanks to creative vote counting.
“...left-wing scheme to take over states’ elections...”
They already have.

Mi
1st they stole the Mi SC that set up everything else. After that they used rat ballot initiatives to get the SOS, AG and Governor. The fool Republican SOS could have put them on the August primary ballot but she she had no clue she was in a war. This led to the rats stealing the state for Biden. As a bonus the legislature saw a radical lesbian was going to be AG so they passed a law to limit her power. On his last day the cuck rino Snyder vetoed it.
And everybody else.
“Michiganders”
So is the opposite of “Michigander”, “Michjgoose”?
Seems like MI has forgotten its fierce immigrant history and strong educational values and traded in for social identity credibility.
Without the Electoral College, the biden era would have begun in 2017—under hillary!!!
There might not be any USA at all by now!
Keep the Electoral College!!!!
:: elected state legislators are rushing to neuter themselves and give away their own power ::
They know that as long as their Party stays in power, they keep all their power at the State level.
Until, somebody named Leon starts “axing” too many questions.
Understand, comrade?
:: Seems like MI has forgotten its fierce immigrant history ::
But, still understands the fierceness of the UAW and the USW.
I am of the opinion that we need a constitutional amendment regarding how electors are allocated.
Each congressional district should award their electoral vote to the candidate that wins a majority in that district. If no candidate wins a majority, a run off election between the top two candidates should be held 30 days later.
States also have two additional electoral votes. One should go to the candidate that wins the most districts and the second should go to the candidate that wins the most votes within the state. If for any reason, the state votes are undecided, the state legislature should meet in unicameral session and assign the electoral vote to one of the legal candidates running for election.
Are there steel workers left in the USA?
I thought all our steel plants were idled/shut down/gone.
Yes.
Everywhere the UAW isn’t running the show.
Call themselves “Operators”.
