I guess it's time to cancel Roddy McDawell, whose childhood debut in How Green Was My Valley, which treated coming of age in a Welsh mining town, featured Welsh choral singers, and Welsh dialect minus the curse words, was nothing but cultural appropriation. Yup. Cancel Roddy. He did the same thing in Planet of the Apes, playing a chimpanzee instead of letting an actual chimp play that role;-)
Prince of Wales may be the title for the crown prince of the UK, but national unity smash-in-all unity. End the occupation of Wales!

“and reiterates his call for Prince of Wales title to be abolished”
Perhaps they instead rename it: “Prince of Diversity”, since that better reflects Western Europe now.

I think this guy misses the whole point of “acting.”
If you can only play a part that reflects who you actually are, you’d better start writing your own material.

Hey, Mike. (Can I call you Mike?)
The English and Welsh negotiated (fought) over this a while back.
Your guys lost.

I see no reason why the title should continue.
When the Queen died, that didn't make you king.
The royal pageantry brings a lot of tourist money to Britain.

Apparently Sheen doesn't know British history. The title "Prince of Wales" was originally bestowed on the son of King Edward I in 1301 after his conquest of Wales and execution (1283) of David III, the last native prince of Wales. It was a power move then, demonstrating English military and political superiority and domination over the Welsh, and remains so today.
So it's not going away any time soon, as long as Wales remains one of the four "kingdoms" within the overall United Kingdom.

I presume it was even more offensive in the vaudeville days when brit actors donned “welsh face”.

Flo King, a rabid Anglophile (Her father was English born, her mother was a Southern Lady) said the title goes back to Edward I, Longshanks, who conquered Wales. His Welch subjects demanded a Welch-born prince, who spoke no English. When his son, Edward (later Edward II) born at Caernarfon Castle, he made him the Prince of Wales. He was Welch born, and spoke no English.

In 2017, Sheen and his partner US comedian and actress Sarah Silverman went their separate ways, citing differences in views over Brexit and the Trump presidency.Knowing what a lefty Silverman is, Sheen must be a fan of Brexit and Trump. Now I'm on his side.

I can’t tell you how many times I was watching a TV show or movie, saw a Welsh character, and screamed out: “HEY WAIT A MINUTE! THAT GUY’S NOT WELSH!”

How does he feel about a black woman portraying Anne Boleyn or Cleopatra, or a Singapore actress portraying Elizabeth II as a young woman? Or is that ‘different’.
