"Police told NBC New York that what Foehner thought was a weapon turned out to be a pen.”

Cops should know, they shoot people holding non-weapons all the time.

Besides, the dead guy probably wanted the guy to think it was a knife. Too damn cheap to get a real knife. I hate a cut-rate criminal.

I asked my red county Sherriff about using a gun in self defense.

He said if I followed the law, there would be no problem, and the county DA would back that.

Then he said, “But I worry about the Feds.”

Which I interpret as the Feds could bring some federal civil rights law or some such charges.

the thing is we don’t know

It could be that the dead guy wanted the 65 year old to think it was a knife

Or it could be he was taking out a pen to write something down

or anything

I’m just saying we do not have enough information to draw any conclusion

Some homeless felons carry “tools” instead of weapons, to avoid trouble with the law. But nobody wants to be stabbed with a screwdriver.

Could be.

I repeat - we don’t know enough to draw any conclusions

Aren’t we all just so proud of the brave men in blue that arrested a 65 year old for having the audacity to defend himself?

Yep.

“Queens District Melinda Katz charged Foehner with criminal possession of a weapon and a firearm. Investigators revealed he had a license for a shotgun and a rifle, but not for his pistol, and he did not have a concealed carry permit. Police said Foehner has no criminal history.”

Dad and uncle were all NYPD cops back in the day. Nothing changes.

As I recall, the youths that confronted Bernhard Goetz were in possession of screwdrivers. Used them to pry open coin boxes on arcade games. I think they asked Bernie if he had any money, rather than demanding money. There’s a game to be played there with semantics and allegations.

Say what they want but righteous shootings are not prosecuted in Chicago as opposed to the capitol of doucheness, New York City.

Yes- carrying a “tool” of a razor sharpened flat edge 9 to 12” screwdriver— in its own carrying sheath (sold for worker’s tool belts). They hang this inside their pants, either in an inside loop or off the belt (less often this, because bend over and stab yourself, etc.)

Tools. Just as a firearm is a tool- very specific and legal tool when accosted by a medieval street ape.

Murphy has an infestation from the college and some leakage from the Asheville types.

Would be controllable is needed ...

Visually hasn’t changed that much, but the seasonal student population is, well, indoctrinated ...

Still really pretty up there of course.

"East Tennessee east and south of 75 and 40, and you’ll be in God’s country."

That's where we've been looking at - BTW, Tenn. is in top ten states for stretching retirement dollars.

He should have asked the mugger to wait for the police social worker to arrive.

In Baltimore this summer, where the Democrat admin says it has "a comprehensive summer engagement strategy" to ensure young people "have a safe and engaging summer," curfew-breaking teens will have taxpayer-funded transportation to shuttle them to "Youth Connection Centers" where their "parents" can come and pick them up. The transportation will be handled by non-police City employees or "third-party entities."

Yeah, lotsa luck wid dat.

Yeah, we’ll see how long it takes one of those innocent civilian drivers to have a Near-Death Experience.
