Former President Donald Trump blasted Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) ahead of his presidential campaign launch on Wednesday, asserting he would be doomed to fail in the general election after voting to overhaul entitlement programs when he was a congressman.
Trump, the leading Republican presidential candidate, took to Truth Social to hit DeSantis’s support of legislation that took aim at Social Security and Medicare during his time in Congress :

Not the best time to criticize GOP efforts to rein in entitlement spending, but I doubt Trump gave it a second thought.

Trump must really be scared of DeSantis. These comments are borderline obsessive and 100% off the wall.
I don't think so. President Trump knows his base will enjoy the behind the scenes stories of DeSantis weeping for Trump's endorsement, or Romney dropping to one knee. You can just see it!

How soon we forget 2016. This is the exact same playbook Trump used to win the GOP nomination back then. Ah NOOOOOOOOOO, Trump didn't start shooting his mouth off about someone who hadn't even enter the race. He's been bad mouthing DeSantis for months, he's making a fool of himself and he's alienating voters.

Trump can’t win. What’s his response to that? More whining about “stolen” elections?
DeSantis has to define himself quickly out of the gate because he’s not well known but he’s also the most visible target besides Trump.

Mark my words, hold me to it, I bet Trump and Biden will not be on the ballot by election time. Let's hope he doesn't kill Republican chances in 2024.
Wrong. Even if the GOPe steals the nomination from President Trump, he'll be on the Presidential ballot (under a different banner).

They probably boost both Trump and DeSantis overall.
If that's the strategy, I'm cool with it. At the end of the day, this will come down to a Trump v. DeSantis race. Every new GOP candidate who enters the lists will drain support from DeSantis. So ultimately, while I think he's a better candidate and would make a better president than Trump, I think his chances of winning the primaries are slim.

Only if you believe Trump is doing ANYTHING to stop the transexual agenda and drag shows for toddlers.
But he isn’t, because he’s a social liberal who loves Big Government - provided it is HIS “Big Government”. He’s GHW Bush with bad hair.
BUT!
If he wins the nomination, I’ll vote for him. Or more precisely, AGAINST the democrat. Unlike the “Only Trumpers”.

Remember that in 2016, it was TRUMP who was the late entrant into the race.
He's been bad mouthing DeSantis for months, he's making a fool of himself and he's alienating voters.
You would think so, and yet everything I've seen here on FR seems to show that Trump is leading the GOP field by a wide margin.

So, what is Trump worried about? If DeSantis truly has no chance of winning the nomination....why isn’t Trump welcoming him like he just did with Tim Scott? Is he worried about the funding that he won’t be getting because DeSantis is getting it? Is it all about the money?
I say let the best and most worthy man win. And bar or sans the evil left keeping Trump from running via their ongoing prosecutions, Trump will probably win the nomination. So why all the vitriol and angst? Is it really necessary? Do we really have to fall for the divide and conquer tactics that the left always uses against us?

Exactly right......and the Trump sycophants on FR are too busy being nasty and calling people names just like he does to even recognize that fact.....much less admit it.

Wrong. Even if the GOPe steals the nomination from President Trump, he'll be on the Presidential ballot (under a different banner).Like losing?
Republicans need to rally and win. We've got just 1-1/2 years to the next administration. Hopefully Biden won't get any supreme court nomination opportunities but the next president surely will. You'd promote a Democrat win and allow them to reshape the court in 2024?
And it is Trump giving it all away. Imagine if he'd STFU about fellow candidates, if he was inclusive about building the party? Right now, he's shoring up his die-hard supports, but nothing further. Outside of them, he's losing and making himself a pariah.

He can’t win because he is an ahole & has a non-likeable personality. He’s also another Deep State-owned property who will do as the NeoCons direct.
