Five Oklahoma transgender youths and their families have sued the state over a ban on gender-affirming health care, alleging the halt of puberty-blocking drugs, surgery and hormone treatments is a violation of their constitutional rights.
The families filed the lawsuit in a Tulsa federal court Tuesday, one day after Gov. Kevin Stitt signed Senate Bill 613, which immediately banned gender transition surgeries, along with a six-month phase-out of other drug and hormone treatments.
“We wanted to make sure we were ready as soon as possible because access to care changed immediately (with the governor’s signature),” said Megan Lambert, legal director for the ACLU of Oklahoma, which is part of the lawsuit.
The lawsuit, which claims the state's health care ban discriminates on the basis of sex and transgender status, lists dozens of state health boards and officials as defendants, including Attorney General Gentner Drummond.
"We are aware a complaint has been filed. We will review it and will defend the laws of the State of Oklahoma,” said Phil Bacharach, a spokesperson for Drummond’s office.

Sorry, but I don’t see pandering to delusions to the point of physical or chemical mutilation as “health care”: rather, the opposite.
Odd how a nation at arms over female genital mutilation by Muslim sects can embrace the physical and psychological destruction of its youth.
But, after the evils of COVID, I don’t know why I am surprised. This is just one more step down a very dark road.
I’m not familiar with the Oklahoma bill, but these types of
bills generally protect minors. They seek to have the kids
reach adulthood, at which time they can do as they please.
I would hope the courts don’t object to that.
There are plenty of kids out there who are coming around to
realize they did the wrong thing, and now feel that their
lives are ruined.
Let’s error on the side of future kids being spared that
sort of awakening and aftermath.

Oklahoma bill doesn’t go far enough. They should just translate the guidelines from Finland, where even this “gender-affirming” is banned (of course along with giving minors either puberty blockers or hormones).
The Finnish guidelines are to tell the kids who feel they are other sex “Don’t worry about it. Growing up is confusing. We’ll look at it again when you’re older.”
The practice shows that this dysphoria almost always goes away by itself. There is a very rare case when it is real, but for most of it - as Dr. House said - it’s not lupus.

Pass a bill requiring a tattoo before the procedure starts...you know...too assure the proper treatment is given.
Then the current law would require the patient to be 18 years old.

I’m pretty sure there’s nothing in the Constitution about ‘rights’ to mutilate children.
Whenever I hear about ‘trans rights’ I immediately just ask, “what rights do I have that you don’t?”. Oh, you’re talking about having ‘special rights’. Err, no. There’s no such thing as ‘trans rights’.

So let me get the Leftist position straight. Its a basic human right for a minor to have legal access to bodily mutilation to change their gender, but not a basic human right for even an adult to have legal access to pyschaitriac help to change the gender they are attracted to?
