How Bud Light's Dylan Mulvaney debacle has left Anheuser-Busch paralyzed: Company 'never expected' backlash and is now TRAPPED as it refuses to disavow partnership

Bud Light parent company Anheuser-Busch appears to be trapped between a rock and a hard place as it grapples with polarization over its paid partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney.

Since the controversy emerged on April 1, Bud Light and Anheuser-Busch's main social media accounts have fallen silent, despite major sporting events of the kind the brand typically chimes in on.

Aside from an initial terse statement, Anheuser-Busch has also ignored media requests on the issue. Last week, a Missouri distributor canceled an event featuring the famed Budweiser Clydesdales, citing safety concerns.

'They never expected the reaction that they got,' said Gareth Boyd, a marketing and PR expert with Forte Analytica, speaking to DailyMail.com on Thursday as an industry observer. 'Right now, if they respond and they don't get it right, they're only going to further hurt themselves.'

'I think they're probably trying to avoid talking about it, hoping and praying that it will go away, but it's probably the worst thing you could possibly do,' he added...

Behind the scenes Anheuser-Busch, there have been hints of internal turmoil and finger-pointing over fallout from the controversy.

According to sources cited by the Daily Wire, 'no one at a senior level' was aware of the Mulvaney brand partnership before it launched, and the campaign was undertaken by a 'low-level marketing staffer.'

Executives have 'paused' new marketing campaigns so they can implement a more robust vetting process for future projects, according to the report...

There is no way to get this right

They could offer a free 36 pack to any male who can prove they are married to a woman or have a girlfriend.

I hate to admit you are correct, but you are correct. Even people on FreeRepublic, who exclaimed to the heavens that they were finished with MLB, NFL and NASCAR. But guess what, look at the threads and see how many have went back, once the outrage had blown over.

I’m not a marketing man and all I know about beer is what tastes good to me, but I would think that this would be a golden opportunity for a competitor to knock Bud off the throne. So I find it curious that no one is stepping up.

Could it be that they’re all scared shitless of wokism and more afraid of offending them than they are of their own customers?

I thought this interesting and timely: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCYdKeajDdU

It’s a good thing, though, because unless there is a CLEAR ECONOMIC INTEREST, companies will learn that hiring trans-celebs will result in a boycott and it will be impossible to fire said talent without then getting boycotted by the other side as well.

BL is a brand solely based on “Life Style” perception, NOT the product itself. There are literally thousands of other equal or far superior products, at the same price that have a very similar lifestyle image. They are easily replaceable without the customer giving up or even changing anything.

What they did was make it cost their customer to continue using their product. They are now the fag/tranny bear brand. That is a huge “cost” for their former customers to bare through their self-perception and how others will perceive them.

They will have to defend their choice to drink BL, and will be perceived as supporting, not just tolerating the homo/tranny lifestyle.

I’m not sure the brand will ever recover.

Fox has a few conservative/libertarian leaning people like Tucker and Gutfeld. My thought is that they use these personalities to attract and keep a conservative audience so that they can manipulate the news for them when they need to.

For example Hannity I think invites deep state republicans to help them with PR, when they are trying to regain some credibility.

I don’t know what you’ve got against IPAs but there are some newer breweries such as Terrapin whose IPAs compare favorably with German pilsners such as Darmstadter and Eders.

These mass corporations get involved or pulled into politics and need to be shunned. Americans’ liberties are individual, for individuals. They are not political or corporate privileges.

Do wokesters even drink beer? I would think that they would think it would be too close to a neanderthal type beverage? Perhaps they should stick to their sour apple or lavender martinis

We stopped drinking all AB brands.

Now we enjoy the huge variety available from Genesee Brewing Company.

https://www.geneseebeer.com/

Why bother with these AB freaks?

Beer is a commodity.

Sports leagues provide a unique product (no, your high school team or even SEC team doesn’t provide football entertainment comparable to the one valid professional league). Not a commodity.

Bud Light and Miller Light both suck. The dude picking up the miller light won’t notice the difference. Not having 18 weeks of entertainment IS a noticeable difference. This one might last, simply because a boycott won’t hurt much.

All they have to do is add Soy to the recipe and it will actually do that over time. Soy contains a compound that is chemically the same as estrogen.

It’s not about a boycott, which I agree with you that our side sucks at.

This is a level beyond.

They changed the social perception of their product, perhaps permanently. They are now Pro/Supporting homo/trannies brand.

White Claw could absorb that image change…maybe. But that’s death for a cheap bear brand.

Al Goodwyn and Chip Bok have cartoons today making fun of the Bud Light decision (available at GoComics.com). They are conservative cartoonists (although Bok seems to be anti-Trump). A lot of the comments are from liberals attacking the cartoons or the GOP.

“a lot of people still watch professional football.”

There aren’t thousands of other choices for watching Pro Football, and at better quality.

I don’t know. But who drinks Bud Lite? I don’t remember ever drinking it, but it’s possible I was handed one in a red cup in the 90s.

The company is now ahead?

Then they should put a can with two homos on it humping each other.

I bet their stock would sky rocket! Right?

The only voice corporate America hears is the voice of money. Money talks. When $6 Billion walks they will hear it.
Stories about how a few brain dead slugs in a Wyoming bar still drink Bud Light are feeble attempts to put lip stick on this pig.
Beer drinkers, like everybody else, have less money to spend thanks to the Democrat/communists so they will buy other beers - cheaper beers we called Panther Piss in the 70s when Carter made our lives miserable. Once they get used to the cheaper Panther Piss a good portion of beer drinkers won’t go back. To lots of people beer is beer. I just saw that the loss is up to $6.7 Billion so only 700 million today so far, but the day is young - the big test will be the weekend.
