The historic storm that swept through California over the last week—prompting Gov. Gavin Newsom to declare a state of emergency March 1—has passed.
But for residents living in San Bernardino Mountain communities, the nightmare has only just begun, as many remain snowed in rationing food, medications, water, and heat.
“I can’t even walk 50 feet because it’s up to my shoulders,” Lake Arrowhead resident Becky Gardner told The Epoch Times.

My buddy’s dad bought a place up in mammoth after working as a dentist in Huntington Beach for decades. He was a big skier but his wife couldn’t stand the wind and cold up there. This year it dumped 10 ft from Mammoth to Truckee.
Speaking as a former Wyoming resident... only in California would people live in the mountains, and not know how to live in the mountains.
To hell with California. These are the same bleating fools that believe in global warming. Enjoy the snow.
I’m a current Wyoming resident in this weather has been brutal.
Who lives in an area like that without more than a week’s worth of food, water, meds & heat? Don’t people plan worst case anymore?
“ This year it dumped 10 ft from Mammoth to Truckee.”
I drove from Reno to Mammoth yesterday. I can attest to kraptons of snow. Had to drive all the way down to US 6 to get there.
Aye; I left just before the storm two weeks ago, threading a route that was windy but avoiding where I-25 was closed to high-profile vehicles (I was in a Uhaul box truck). The next day I got video from my friends of houses being buried by snowdrifts in Casper. You could see the grass on one lawn, the next house over was covered in a snowdrift. I love a lot of things about Wyoming, but I was so ready for this winter to be over.
Lake Tahoe gets an average of 215.4 inches of snowfall, or a little under 18 feet. Upper elevations can get between 300 and 500 inches per year. Winds: Winds are generally mild, 10-15 mph, out of the west and northwest.
This is in the San Bernardino Mountains - that’s in SoCal, not the high Sierra of Mammoth or Truckee.
The rest of the country is chattering about “spring” - but the snowy places are battening down the hatches for more snow...
If they watched Jerimiah Johnson

I often have the same attitude. But California, was the first state in which the urban cities commandeered the voting machine and starting making the vote results adhere to their wishes. The progressives started their “march through the institutions” in California, then they expanded it from there and are now marching their voting fraud template through other states as well.
There are still many conservatives in rural California who love their rural land and the lifestyle they have built there through generations of hard-work and sacrifice. Not everyone in California is from San Francisco and LA.
Apparently, although they are used to snow storms, this one was bad and even worse than expected. In 1993, our state closed for a week due to 8 inches of the white stuff. I can’t even imagine dealing with 8 feet!
I got 5 inches of snow and it is
Not to mess with,
5 to 10 Feet would be disastrous!
BTW you might want to look where this conservative website originates from.
If you know a better conservative website from your state, let us know.
Or the movie about the Donner Party.
👍
US 6 runs into Bishop outta Tonopah, NV.
So, you had to run out to US95, then south to US6 and cut back west before you could make it back up US395 to Mammoth?
Ya do whatever ya gotta, but that’s a heckuva detour.
Yes, all Californians are the same.
The ones up in the mountains are just like the ones in the cities just like the ones in the desert just like the ones in the farmland.
All Californians in the cities are all the same.
No Californians deserve any compassion or understanding at any time, ever.
Especially the Californian who owns and operates Free Republic, or FReepers who live in CA and fight back.
The ski resorts will probably be open year round!
