My buddy’s dad bought a place up in mammoth after working as a dentist in Huntington Beach for decades. He was a big skier but his wife couldn’t stand the wind and cold up there. This year it dumped 10 ft from Mammoth to Truckee.
“ This year it dumped 10 ft from Mammoth to Truckee.”
I drove from Reno to Mammoth yesterday. I can attest to kraptons of snow. Had to drive all the way down to US 6 to get there.
This is in the San Bernardino Mountains - that’s in SoCal, not the high Sierra of Mammoth or Truckee.
I got 5 inches of snow and it is
Not to mess with,
5 to 10 Feet would be disastrous!
The ski resorts will probably be open year round!
Some folks are economically unable to leave their residences. Some folks are too old and ill to shovel snow. Some folks are literally snowed-in and can’t get fuel to operate their generators. Even the utility companies are blocked by snow and downed trees and cannot provide light and heat. Don’t go hatin’ on people about whose circumstances you know nothing! Those of you not trapped by these storms ought to simply thank God that you’re not!
I lived in SoCal...Skied Mt. Baldy and Arrowhead area....
People that live up there "forget" where they live....
43’ of snow on Donner pass
