If they watched Jerimiah Johnson
Or the movie about the Donner Party.
“If they watched Jerimiah Johnson”
Now there is a movie I haven’t watched in a while. It certainly was one of the “greats”! When I read history books or watch movies depicting the hard times and suffering our ancestors went through in settling our country (although movie depictions always rather romanticized the entire starving to death scenarios), I recognize more and more exactly what they did that was so brave and inspiring. Masculine “toxicity” certainly ran rampant.
I know the current narrative is that women, especially black women, built our nation. However, the fact is that it was strong men who did the work, cleared the land, build the homes and towns, and conquered the lands so that we all might prosper to this day. And we are throwing that all away in sacrifice to their climate gods.
Next, I watch videos of young men and women on a weekend retreat being outraged that they are expected to camp outside without running water at their fingertips, with no knowledge of how to build a fire (even with a full box of stick matches). Although I laugh at their ignorance and lack of basic knowledge, I wonder how the “experts” that have controlled our nation for way to long could have been allowed to lead us so far astray.
