George W. Bush was worse than you remember
MSNBC ^ | 02/20/2023 | Michael A. Cohen

The American presidency is one of the strangest jobs in the world.

Politicians aspire to it. The media focuses obsessively on the person who holds it and those who want to win it. Millions of books and articles have been written about it. And yet, most of the people who’ve held the job really weren’t that good.

There are a few truly great presidents, some pretty good ones and a handful of complete disasters. But most can be summed up, as the Simpsons famously once did, as the “adequate, forgettable, occasionally regrettable, caretaker presidents of the U.S.A.”

In fairness, the presidency radically changed in the 20th century, especially as the United States became a global power, so it’s a bit hard to compare the earlier commanders in chief to the modern ones. And despite the many mediocrities, ranking the presidents is a popular pastime, one I’ve dabbled in myself. So let’s ask a slightly different question: Who are the most overrated and underrated holders of the most thankless job in American politics?

Yeah, he’s in his 70s, now. He did well with high taxes, high inflation, so he seems to believe that all of our problems would be solved if we raised taxes on the rich, and gave raises to all of the minimum wage earners.

My first election, I voted for Carter. I came home from school at about 5 ( west coast time), and watched the news. Carter’s concession speech led the stories. I wasn’t going to go vote after that, but my parents talked me into it.

MSNBC was always and still is as bad as I remember. Also, most everything said on this thread about Bush’s faults are accurate.

I see some people who call themselves 'conservative' are still making excuses for George W. Bush. We are in the mess we find ourselves in because of that family! HE is a globalist traitor!

Too harsh? HELL NO!

The Bush's did every bit as much damage as Obama/Biden ever did! You all know about the amnesty BS. You know about the loss of our rights with his Patriot act and pushing NGO's to control our life. He sanctioned Waco and too much other nonsense that should have never happened. His little brother Jeb was supposed to be on the R ticket in 2016, not Trump.

They hate Trump because he told the truth about them and the Cheney's! The media is supposed to pick our candidates and Trump got in their way! Just ask the NY Times which is partly owned by Mexico's Carlos Slim Helu.

Did you know GW sent Jeb to Mexico in 2008 to meet with Carlos Slim about Lehman Brothers? After that meeting the government decided to not bail out Lehman Brothers, but other banks instead. Slim and his cartels own the Bush's, Clintons, Obama and Joe and Hunter Biden!! George Soros is a piker compared!

Carlos Slim lost 5.1 BILLION DOLLARS in the stock market the morning Hillary lost. That is almost George Soros entire fortune! He was assured HRC would win!THAT election was fixd too! Trump simply won by TOO MUCH to lose!

There was NO peaceful transition of power to the Trump administration. That is the real story! And the Bush's either let it happen to ALL of us or were square in the middle of that coup de tat against Trump!

SEE: https://towncriernews.blogspot.com/search?q=Carlos+Slim+Helu

snips: [The New York Times] has vociferously promoted more immigration from Mexico. Slim profits exorbitantly on calls between the two countries, but the New York Times’s obvious conflict of interest in promoting Mexican settlement in America, which promotes its second largest stockholder`s wealth, is almost never remarked upon (or noticed).”

~~~ Volume 24, Number 4 (Summer 2014) Issue theme: "Billionaires for Open Borders"[Snip] For perspective, Slim’s holdings equate to a full 6 percent of Mexico’s GDP; in comparison, Bill Gates’ share of American GDP is around 0.04 percent. Considering the power and influence he has in his country, along with the fact that Mexico is home to over half of America’s illegal immigrants, Carlos Slim should be one of the central figures in the ongoing immigration debate. ~~~~
In a Apr 7, 2015 Forbes article about Jeb Bush's ties to Mexico (AN eye opener!) it is noted: After leaving the Governor's mansion in 2007, Jeb continued to cultivate his connections to Mexico's powerful elite. In the summer of 2008, Jeb traveled to Mexico the same day Senator John McCain, the then presumptive Republican presidential nominee, paid a high-profile visit to Mexico City. Together McCain and Jeb visited the Basilica of the Virgin of Guadalupe, Mexico's blessed saint. Later McCain and Bush dined at the U.S. Embassy with some of Mexico's most powerful businessmen, including Carlos Slim Domit, telecom mogul Carlos Slim Helú's older son. As the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression was unfolding in 2008, Jeb Bush had signed on as consultant to Lehman Brothers, where he was enlisted to reach out to Slim Helú in a plan code-named Project Verde (Green Project) aimed at bailing out Lehman, The New York Times reported. Slim wasn't dumb enough to waste his money. But don't you wonder what Bush offered him.
From: Jeb Bush To: Casner, Matt Sent: Sat Jul 05 09:41:31 2008 Subject: Re: Project verde was unsuccessful. He did not express interest in jv or stock purchase. he did say he would be intersted in looking at assets for sale. [snip] ~~~~
Carlos Slim and The Obama/Biden Administration ( of note is that Hunter and Joe meet with Carlos Slim! https://towncriernews.blogspot.com/2022/03/hunter-bidens-laptop-and-carlos-slim.html )
Slim was often guests of the Obamas and attended State Dinners. At this one on May 19, 2010, Hillary Clinton, attended as Secretary of State. Others: The President & First Lady Michelle Obama The Honorable Joseph R. Biden, Jr., Vice President of the United States Dr. Jill Biden, Mr. Carlos Slim, América Móvil, Inbursa, Grupo Carso, MexicoMs. Eva Longoria-Parker, Los Angeles, CA (this woman is everywhere with the dnc) Mr. George Lopez, Los Angeles, CA (fall down drunk in public Lopez - classy move Obama!) Ms. Whoopi Goldberg, Whoop Productions, New York, NY
From a news clip on May 6, 2013: President Barack Obama wrapped up a less than 24 hour trip to Mexico City last week by meeting privately with a group of top Mexican businessmen that included Carlos Slim Domit, Chairman of the Board of Grupo Carso and the eldest son of Carlos Slim Helú, the world's richest person. From the U.S. side, the binational dialogue will be led by Vice President Joe Biden. The goal is to strengthen economic integration beyond the 1994 North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
When Vice-President Joseph Biden travels to Mexico this week to meet with the country's new president, Enrique Peña Nieto, he will not be speaking with an enlightened democratic leader but a representative of the nation's corrupt oligarchy."
How fitting. Looks like Biden always talked with the corrupt of nations. They speak his language.
OBAMAPHONES Perhaps you noticed last week that one demand of Pelosi for Covid relief is renewing the free phone fiasco of Obama/Biden. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi introduced her own emergency coronavirus stimulus bill on Monday, leading furious Republicans to argue that much of the proposal contained a progressive wishlist seemingly unrelated to the crisis -- including several provisions that amount to a resurrection of the notorious "Obamaphone" program, GOP officials said.
A comprehensive 2017 report from the nonpartisan Government Accountability Office (GAO) found that that the "Obamaphone" program, which gave cell phones to poor people under the broadband benefit, stashed $9 billion in private bank accounts and was"rife with fraud," the Washington Times reported at the time. The GAO report found that about 10.6 million people have an Obamaphone, but 36 percent of them may not qualify. The audit also concluded that more than 5,500 people were found to be enrolled for two phones, while the program was paying for about 6,400 phones for persons the government has listed as dead, the paper reported. Once the lucrative deal was sealed on Obamaphones, purchased from TracFone, fraud took over. It was never about helping the poor. It was about helping Obama/Biden and Carlos Slim.
TracFone is owned by Mexican multibillionaire Carlos Slim Helu.
Yep. If you opposed the Patriot Act or the invasions you were a “traitor”. The FR has always had a strong contingent of jingoistic morons. Anyone who knows anything about MidEast history knew that any attempt at occupation would fail. The Romans couldn’t pacify the tribal warfare and they crucified people. Nation building was doomed from the start. Western politicians never lack for hubris.
I’ll tell you how bad Bush II was: I had to stop listening to Rush Limbaugh during Dubya’s second term because Rush turned into a PR man/apologist for him.
We were lucky to have Bush rather than Gore in office when 9/11 happened. Bush kept Gore and Kerry from being President, both of whom would have been much worse.
Bush appointed Alito to the Supreme Court. His other pick, John Roberts, has often disappointed but anyone Kerry would have picked would have been much worse.
No. 911 was response by AL Qaeda for presence of American military in Arab lands.
And in response, by noon local time on 9/12/2001, Mecca should have been a glassed over, smoking, radioactive ruin.
George Bush was asked how successful was his Presidency.
He arrogantly replied, “Ask me in 30 years”
Unfortunately , we don't have to wait that long. The verdict of history has come in quite a bit sooner.
He was a decent custodian of the presidency while in office but he was a total disaster from a long term strategic perspective.
All the wheels he set in motion have fallen off the bus.
His failure to secure the American military's stunning victory for lasting peace in the Middle East and Afghanistan seized defeat from jaws of victory in one of the most amazing self inflicted failures in recorded history. All he accomplished in the WOT was bleeding our troops and grinding down our military to leave the world a much worse place then he found it
He started the disastrous border policies that are not flooding the country with illegal aliens
His flat , willful refusal to fight back against the slanders of Pelosi and the Democrats to support his agenda gave us Barak Obama and a corrupted government and political system that be the end to America as we knew it.
He will go down in history as one of the most negatively consequential and damaging Presidents in American history. That's his legacy and I never want to hear from that goofy POS again.
That would bring Islamic fanatics from all over the world with bombs strapped to their bodies. 3 million migrants just entered with no vetting. There are many more Muslims in the world than Christians. And they are present in 150 countries all over the world.
Better foreign policy would be to stay out of foreign wars. Let the dictators like Saddam Hussein control the fanatics locally. He kept fanatics subdued and in jail.
