Coast Guard monitoring suspected Russian spy ship near Hawaii

The U.S. Coast Guard on Wednesday said officials have been tracking a suspected Russian spy ship off the coast of Hawaii for weeks.

While foreign military ships are allowed to move through U.S. waters, the Coast Guard said in a press release that it is monitoring the vessel and sharing updated information with the Department of Defense to “appropriately meet presence with presence to encourage international maritime norms.”

Cmdr. Dave Milne, the chief of external affairs, said the Coast Guard tracks “all vessels in the Pacific area through surface and air assets and joint agency capabilities.”

“The Coast Guard operates in accordance with international laws of the sea to ensure all nations can do the same without fear or contest,” Milne said in a statement. “This is especially critical to secure freedom of movement and navigation throughout the Blue Pacific.”

The Coast Guard on Wednesday also shared a video clip of the vessel, which it called an intelligence gathering ship, when it was moving through the waters off Hawaii on Jan. 11.

The US Coast Guard, the Russians must be trembling, but if they cleverly break out the pride flag the USCG will immediately head home after answering the salute with their sodomy flag.

I remember while stationed at Patrick AFB in Florida overseeing the Cape and the Eastern Test Range it was not unusual to hear of Russian “fishing vessels” just outside territorial limits that had a lot of antennas for a fishing boat that never seemed to catch any fish. Everyone knew they were gathering intel, the same way we did to them.

Hi.

IIRC Ivan comes in threes. For example, one trawler spy ship, one sub and one frigate destroyer.

Kinda like Ivan on the ground. Arty, armor and infantry.

Among other querks...

Pray that Russia doesn’t figure out combined arms tactics and strategies.

The spy ship is a very old ship called SSV-535 Kareliya.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vishnya-class_intelligence_ship

“The Vishnya class (NATO reporting name) (also known as the Meridian class),[2] Soviet designation Project 864,[2] are a group of intelligence collection ships built for the Soviet Navy in the 1980s. The ships continue in service with the Russian Navy.[3] The Russian Navy operates seven of these ships.[2]”

They can’t. The way they organize their military deliberately prevents them from working together because that could pose a threat to the dicktater in Moscow.

When I was in the CG traveling up and down the coast we would see the Russian vessels you speak of, yes, lots and lots of antennas with volleyball on deck but no fishing gear:)

We would circle them, take some photos, and move on so we could actually use our radios again due to a LOT of frequency interference.

Maybe we are hearing about this because this case could be "unusual".

At Vandenberg we knew there was going to be a classified launch because of the russian trawlers suddenly appearing at the 3 mile limit.

If the US continues on its path to self-destruction, who will seize Hawaii, China or Russia?

Who will seize Australia?

New Zealand?

I believe a large part of the ordinary citizen’s pliability to swallow the anti-russkie propaganda is the social conditioning through movies/tv/gov claims of US military infallibility and superiority, and that somehow translates to Uke capabilities by sending them weapons and money. But that’s Hollywood, not reality. There is no Rambo coming to save the day. Russia is not Iraq and their soldiers aren’t former goat herders.

The fact is the russkies are crushing the Ukes on an industrial scale. 8-1 casualty ratio. 10-1 heavy armor ratio. The russkies, at least outwardly, seem to have unlimited resupply capability. Russia also has serious tech capabilities that are just ignored by western pontificators. Or did they forget Sputnik, Yuri Gagaran, Tsar Bomba, the RUSSIAN SPACE STATION, and now hypersonic missiles, Tsunami bombs, I mean geeeezzzz.

The Ukes, who have never been an independent industrialized country, are 100% reliant upon NATO weapons/personnel/satellites in holding out as long as they have. Their incessant demands for resupply proves that. But has been and will continue to be a losing match.

Pretending russkie generals are oafs and their soldiers are untrained/unequipped/cowards is another product of this delusion and is part of the psych operation to justify funneling yet more hundreds of billions to the American weapons industry.

This war has virtually zero national security interest for USA. Not having NATO nukes/armies/weapons on your border & 100 miles from Moscow is the #1 national security issue for the russkies. Which is why the russkies have been justifiably hollering about NATO expansion for the last 20 years. Not all that hard to understand. That the two prior ‘peace’ agreements [Minsk accords] were the product of Western deception and lies is the main, if not triggering, cause of this war. It also makes things much more difficult for a negotiated resolution, if not impossible. Russkies will occupy all of Uke now. It has no choice.

The huge danger in this is that NATO can’t have its ego bruised, not again after losing the mid-east wars in Iraq/Syria/Afgan. So the desperate expansion of this war is mostly about saving NATO’s reputation and cohesion BECAUSE NATO is needed to generate huge profits to the weapons industry and in turn their kickbacks to the NATO decision-makers. No NATO, or no reason for NATO, no profits and no reason to spend $800billion on defense. It is a circle jerk. Not really a good reason to kill hundreds of thousands and destroy a country, but there you have it.
