What if the stalked became the stalker- started stalking the stalker. Give him a taste of his own medicine. Would that work?

Talblack, your arrow hits more closely to the mark of my post above-if we allow a faceless, unaccountable, ungovernable entity to make choices on our behalf and take our freedom away, there is a risk:

The risk is that people with power may be more interested in controlling us than doing things that “protect us from ourselves”.

And should anyone doubt that is possible, look at Communist China and their use of COVID.

I find it ironic that awareness of "National Stalking Awareness Month," will be spread by the same social media that has become a boon for stalkers.

Way too many FB, Instagram, TikTok, etc. users are simple attention whores who realize too late (if they ever realize it at all) that they have little to no control over filtering wanted attention from unwanted attention.

People continually get on social media to show how great they and their lives are, whether it's vacation in Cancun, what they're having for lunch or how perfect their new BF/GF is. Consciously or sub-consciously they are cultivating envy, and are too shallow to realize that some people deal with envy simply by setting out to take what they want.

When all is said and done with the Idaho four murders, I have no doubt that we'll find out the killer (whether or not it's Kohberger) used social media as part of his victim selection and stalking.

Prior to social media, stalkers would actually have to do the legwork and come across their target/victim somewhere/somehow in person. Now, people with that mentality can troll the internet looking for potential targets and the potential targets are doing everything they can to call attention to themselves in order to collect clicks, hits, views, likes and subscribers. I'm not sure why people who invest so much time and effort trying to cultivate online, "followers," are surprised when somebody actually starts following them in person.

In the future, everyone will be aggrieved for 15 minutes.

This is a great post and I’m sure it’s very well intentioned. However, NOTHING the so called “national health institute” espouses should be taken seriously.

Going Galt is actually easier than trying to get rid of this or that part of the beast.

But you make a really good point. I hope what I said doesn’t offend you.

Do you have an example of this hard case being used to whittle away at freedom?

...the guy who staked her and wound up killing her husband is due to be released in 10 years. What then?

I’m with Dennis Prager on this one. A murderer should be put to death. At the very least they should face life in prison with no parole. Letting this guy, or any other murderer, is a crime itself.

Seems every month on the calendar is now a thirty day exercise in gender, sexual or racial chauvinism.

In this case, as this guy continues to harass her from prison and shows no sign of giving up his obsession, I would say that with in a year of his getting out either he or she will be dead.

And our legal system will do nothing.

Unless it is charge her for defending herself.

A very preventable tragedy in the making.

But I am sure it will be fine.

You should keep track. Seriously.

Prior to his arrest, her stalker drove a truck and travelled all over the country, which made it all the more concerning that he could show up anywhere. We've heard rumor that he's since died, but don't know for certain.

That said, he would have a surprise coming if he ever came around. That first handgun led my wife to become quite the enthusiast. She's a far better shot than I, and as she was an athlete before going into broadcasting, she has become a natural at martial arts.

Even I know not to F with her...

We could start dedicating Hours instead of Months to causes, but it would be a real hassle to carry around the different flags, banners and lapel pins you’d need.

What about a digital lapel pin that changes banners and slogans every hour? That said, stalking is real and it's horrible. I'm in favor of this one.

Your post absolutely does NOT offend me in the least. I am of the same mind. In the last two years, the NIH has forfeited any trust I might have placed in it.

I included that graphic about the NIH to fortify my observation that the NIH is indeed involved in this kind of thing, and in my opinion, absolutely should not be. (As opposed to some non-governmental entity such as a non-profit, which I support. Their money. Their time. I am all good with those people.

But the NIH, or anywhere else in government? Not even one, single person there.

Your question is a tactic and is not a reasonable or honest question.

The whittling to which I refer has been going on in full view in the media for over sixty years in a myriad of subjects and areas (helped along by the Soviet Union in the early years) and if you missed it or references to it on FreeRepublic I feel sorry for you. (Unless you’re 18 or 22 years old or something.

There is a soft area between our collective rights and our personal space. To live in a free society you have to put up with a little crap. The soviets had an easy time of it spying on us because we were a free open society. We couldn’t do much to make things harder for them…because we were a free and open society Where is the line vis a vis stalking? How do you define it . You’d HAVE to to start passing laws on it. And SOMEONE would get to define and enforce these new laws.
Bear in mind that once, the killer in question, might have been determined to be a danger to himself or others and locked up for it. Good luck with that crap today. Also the police may once have been able to persuade a less crazy person to develop a new interest. Good luck with that as well. Today the cops can’t look at anyone cross eyed.

I’ll leave you with an honest questionor two: Outsid of information or news what was the point of this article? And two: What law should be passed that would have prevented this stalker psycho from doing his thing?

I'll leave you with an honest questionor two:

But will you answer the honest question, did you read the article?

Outsid of information or news what was the point of this article?

To point out that the police and legal system will not do a thing to protect you and you should arm yourself. People should know this but apparently they don't.

What law should be passed that would have prevented this stalker psycho from doing his thing?

Constitutional carry.

She and her husband would have had a shot at defending themselves.

But they didn't.

Because of where they worked the law said they could not carry at work.

And they were law abiding citizens even when the law was an ass.

It cost her husband his life.

The point if the article was to tell women to buy a gun and learn to use it because the law and the cops won’t be able to protect you in desperate moment, but the gun can if you train and carry.

This woman is a 2A advocate because the system failed her over and over again and is still failing her, because the asshole is still stalking her from prison and will be released from prison in a few years.

I hope she perforates him until her clip is empty when he shows up (because he will).

The best defense is a good offense.
Buy an automatic 12 gauge shot gun, load it with OO9 buck shot and wait for the SOB to come out of prison. If it were my wife being stalked, that would be my response.
