January 2023 marks the nineteenth annual National Stalking Awareness Month. As a victim of a very serious and violent case of stalking, I wanted to share my own experience and bring awareness to what stalking is, how it can lead to extreme violence that can have lifelong devastating effects on victims, and how to protect yourself.
With one in three women, and one in six men potentially being stalked in their lifetime, this an important topic to cover.
If you ever question whether you are being stalked, ask yourself if what is happening is scary/distressing, not the first incident, and targets the same person (you.)

I agree with th articel.....”A gun is a great equalizer, putting a female on equal footing against a male attacker. Your job is not to go and apprehend the person who is a threat. Your job is to keep that threat away from you and protect yourself if necessary.
Even police know they cannot be anywhere and everywhere at any time. “
“Nobody is going to protect you as you can. At the end of the day, you are your own first responder”.
"The National Millisecond for Nose Hair Removal Awareness"!
Kind of reminds of this in some way:
Just fill in the blank!
My husband’s sociopathic ex, who dumped him, used to tailgate me around in her car, follow me around photographing me, hide in the bushes and jump out to photograph me, drive aggressively in her car towards me. She even hit me a couple times. All that could be done were harassment charges. But she was humiliated by her actions in court and stopped. She moved a mile away from our house. Still, I have to constantly look over my shoulder because she’s dangerous and totally unpredictable. She also calls my husband’s work trying to get him fired. Everyone knows she’s crazy.
Did you really need me to tell you that?
A friend of mine who was a cop said if I ever got a stalker its really almost impossible to get rid of them. He said leave the front door unlocked one night and rack a round.
Given that a lot of modern women do NOT want to be educated about 2A, scary guns, and self defense, it might take an entire month to get finally get their attention.
(Original sweetheart of the Rodeo Annie Oakley who lived before the advent of the left complaining about people being able to defend themselves!)
4 college students were murdered in their sleep in Moscow ID by a stalker.
Stalking is repetitive unwanted attention.
Nice. That little guy is solid and will not fail when called into action. Don’t forget either, it will blow out a lung of whomever and wherever you shoot the perp. A magical gun.
According to Brandon our Liar-in-chief, Shoot the bad guy in the knee and poof out goes the lung! I wish my EDC, Ruger SR40, had that capability.
Good article. Basic awareness and self defense options.
I’ll second that on the Ruger LC9.
My only stalker is my dogs when I have the extra sharp cheddar cheese out.
Ah! Phoebe Ann Mosey Quit gal.
Nothing personal here, folks, but I don't believe the issue is, as DoodleBob opines, "contra virtue-signaling".
Here is the issue which I, as a Conservative, see it:
I went to an annual town meeting last year because they were thinking of passing a town measure to MANDATE that ALL business considered and conducted by the town government, should include a component on Climate Change.
I am not against people trying to find out about "Climate Change" and doing what they think they should to stop it. It is a lie and a fools errand, but...it is their time, energy, and money. If this were a non-profit or private company answerable to shareholders, I could not care less. Have at it.
My objection that I stood up in front of the crowd and voiced, was that it is not the role of the town government to do this.
I want my town government to fix the potholes in the roads and keep snow off those roads. I want the water clean when it comes out of my faucet. I want the school system run intelligently. I want the budgets to be balanced.
I said, if even one second of someone's time at Town Hall goes towards ANYTHING regarding "Climate Change", that is ONE SECOND less they can spend on those things that are important.
Because the TIME government officials spend on ANYTHING is MONEY, and it is a zero sum game. TIME (money) taken away from something to be spent on something else is MONEY spent on something else that is not the province of the government.
And I feel the same way about this.
I don't mind if some medical entity defines a month as "Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month" or something like that.
But if one second of government time is being allocated for it, even one second, that is taxpayer money expenditure, and I am wholly against it, since we are already so far in debt we likely will never climb out.
And, as you can see below, there are people proposing this crap, pushing this crap, creating web pages for this crap, creating documents for this crap, allocating someone in government to administer this crap, maybe even creating a unique position for this crap and designating a dedicated FTE for this thing.
Dammit. I want the NIH to deal with the issue the possible issues associated with things like potentially harmful vaccines and whether policies to mandate them are issues, not "National Stalking Awareness Month".
So yes. If there is a non-profit or even a company, and they decide to designate a day, a month or a year to be dedicated to "The Dangers of Nose Hair Plucking" or even more seriously, stalking, I have no problem with that.
But for Conservatives, it ends there. One second proposing it on the floor of the House, one second spent towards government expenditures to educate, put up websites, create documentation, or hiring dedicated people to oversee this is (and should be) anathema towards any thinking Conservative.
That's all. It is terrible that people are stalked, even worse that this stalked person was murdered. Conservatives take issue with government getting involved in this BS, other than to create legislation against stalking, and ensure those doing it are punished appropriately.

I am all for that. I think it is fine that this private person is getting this out there.
As you can see from my post above, I simply don’t think that is the role of the government, and especially not the role of the damned NIH.
The question wasn’t for me
Some people who moved in next door in 2013 is the reason I was finally able to talk Mr K (not the one on this forum) into buying a firearm - he is a former Democrat and knows next to nothing about guns, and he didn’t want one but then he did.
It was okay with him when these drug-addicted losers indicated I was the reason they moved in and when they stole my paycheck from the mail. It was NOT okay with him when they started following him various places and driving out in front of his truck when he’s going to work (in the early-morning hours; that’s how dedicated they are) or returning home. He actually damaged one of his trucks trying to take a detour around the place. They stole HIS paycheck, too. (The post office does nothing about this, by the way.)
The stalking continues and now some really effed-up people I knew in the 1970s are involved - I mean they bought property here and now they are watching me and Mr K all the time. There are quite a number of people involved. I seldom leave the house anymore but when I do, there is no doubt I will have an encounter with one of them somewhere out in the open and they are frequently very threatening. Now there are some idiots supposedly involved in “entertainment” doing this and no one tells them to eff off except for me. (When I do this, they claim I’m threatening them and they sometimes call the police on me.) People are amazingly tolerant of criminal acts right in their faces when these cruds tell them they’re “making a movie.”
In 2014 a guy I’m pretty sure I used to live next door to when I was a kid - I’ve tried to find out for sure and efforts have failed - moved out to Colorado from the East with NO MONEY (so somebody probably helped him or gave him some incentive) unbeknownst to me - except for when he killed some people and I saw his name and face in the news. His place was about a half-hour drive from here. I’m also fairly certain I saw him in the neighborhood before this occurrence - I didn’t recognize him, but observed a man acting peculiar and making weird noises while I was out for a walk. Pretty soon after that I stopped going for walks.
“He said leave the front door unlocked one night and rack a round.”
Indeed. I always taunt them; when they start saying (as they did just yesterday; I got a recording of them) “I’m gonna go over there and beat the sh1t out of her!” I’ll open the door and yell, “So are you coming over then???!!!” (I know that’s not the right thing to do, but I also know the local law enforcement are 100% okay with these guys and I’m pretty much on my own here.)
This has been going on since I was a young teen, though, in one form or another. One thing I’ve learned is that if you’re being stalked, police are never your friends. They just want you out of the community.
Haha, I actually FORGOT that Laura “Loomer” Woods, who I first met in the 1980s, existed until a few years ago. She was plumb out of my mind but THEN SHE CAME BACK with some other losers I had tried to put out of my mind and my life long ago and I realize - like you said - a stalker is forever. And try to do something about it, especially if they have money. (Note: I have a problem with Dan “Blackface” Bongino for taking part in this farce and acting like I was hurting people by not letting old Lauravirus and friends beat up on me and steal my intellectual property.)
I don’t care if there are gun laws where I’m going or not - I’m going to be carrying.
You seem like the sort of lady who would already know that kind of stuff.
