The Hill predicted Sunday that Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis will secure the 2024 GOP presidential nomination with former President Donald Trump as the runner-up contender.
DeSantis was picked as the top candidate for his double-digit reelection during the midterms and what The Hill calls "his embrace of culture war issues and his opposition to COVID-19–related lockdowns."
Explaining why Trump was ranked as the second most likely 2024 nominee, the outlet said: "Trump would have been the runaway favorite had these rankings been drawn up the day before the midterm elections. Since then, virtually everything the president has touched has turned bad."
Trump's controversial dinner with the rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, and nationalist commentator Nick Fuentes, along with what it called a "lackluster" campaign launch are reasons why The Hill predicts the former president may not be the nominee again.
Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz is considered the third-most likely person to be the 2024 presidential nominee, according to The Hill.
Trump and DeSantis have both been considered top contenders in multiple polls, although DeSantis has not launched a formal presidential campaign.
December's Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll showed that nearly twice as many GOP voters would support Trump over DeSantis in the primary. However, a USA Today-Suffolk University poll released days earlier showed 56% of Republicans and Republican-leaning voters supported DeSantis compared to 33% who supported Trump.

I will support Trump if he is the nominee but your characterization of DeSantis is right out of the Pelosi/Schiff playbook. There is no doubt and plenty of evidence that DeSantis is a strong Conservative who ignores the establishment.

DeSantis is not a bad fellow, but he’s being used. I’m sorry to say he’s not highly highly intelligent nor brilliant. What he does do right is listen to some really smart conservative Floridians, have their concerns scripted, and reads said scripts from a podium. But those conservatives had to keep needling him.
What viewers and the thread’s OP need to understand is the following:
THE MEDIA IS PLAYING YOU.
They are going all out to create divisiveness by hyperventilating a clash between Trump and DeSantis.
Their goal is to peel off supporters from President Trump and make MAGA go the way of the TEA PARTY.

If Trump is not the nominee, his loyal supporters will certainly get behind DeSantis. Versis Biden or one of the other idiots - of course.

The election is over. DeSantis won in a massive landslide. Everyone in his orbit is telling him to run in '24. He doesn't need to bend the knee to Trump.

If DeSantis takes the nomination from Trump in an acrimonious primary, I, for one, will not vote for him.

Check what he is doing about elections in Florida. The past Florida election was greaat and he is making sure it will be better in 24. Voter ID, ballot harvesting etc etc

Not from what I hear at this site, unless DeSantis can show himself to be MAGA. So far, he’s doing good, but some things have poppped up. One of the decisions he has to make is whether to jettison the NeverTrumpers, who are the people with big money. If he does so...then you may well be right.
