The Hill predicted Sunday that Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis will secure the 2024 GOP presidential nomination with former President Donald Trump as the runner-up contender.
DeSantis was picked as the top candidate for his double-digit reelection during the midterms and what The Hill calls "his embrace of culture war issues and his opposition to COVID-19–related lockdowns."
Explaining why Trump was ranked as the second most likely 2024 nominee, the outlet said: "Trump would have been the runaway favorite had these rankings been drawn up the day before the midterm elections. Since then, virtually everything the president has touched has turned bad."
Trump's controversial dinner with the rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, and nationalist commentator Nick Fuentes, along with what it called a "lackluster" campaign launch are reasons why The Hill predicts the former president may not be the nominee again.
Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz is considered the third-most likely person to be the 2024 presidential nominee, according to The Hill.
Trump and DeSantis have both been considered top contenders in multiple polls, although DeSantis has not launched a formal presidential campaign.
December's Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll showed that nearly twice as many GOP voters would support Trump over DeSantis in the primary. However, a USA Today-Suffolk University poll released days earlier showed 56% of Republicans and Republican-leaning voters supported DeSantis compared to 33% who supported Trump.

Really??
The Hill???
One of the most biased, Left-Wing, Anti-Trump publications out there?
You can’t be serious.
If you accept The Hill as a respectable source, you might as well accept the conclusions of the J6 Committee as objective and correct.
They come from the same corrupted evil source.
I don’t care if the Hill is right for once, as long as someone who can win ‘24 wins the R primary.
I think they mean that the sHill prays to their Lord, Satan, that this would be the case.
Listening to the “experts” lies, as Birx recently admitted.
But yes, he needs to recalibrate on his shot message.
Hell, I’d just walk around with a synopsis of Birx’s admission and all the data showing that Pfizer was lying. Seems simple to me.
Did they predict jeb Bush had 2016 locked up?
I live in FL.
My gov is the best ever.
My vote is with the best President since George Washington.
Leave me alone, concern-troll airhead.
The Hill was middle of the road pre-Obama. Post the annointed one, it has become “The Shill”.
The Hill hates Trump and is seeking to divide loyalties from voters.
DeSantis isn’t going to run but some of those who work themselves up over him will then not vote for Trump.
Which is the whole idea behind this ‘DeSantis’ thing.
Because the left hasn’t got a good candidate. They fear losing. They have to figure out how to get a bad candidate elected, hence divide and conquer.
I doubt Desantis runs in 24.
The problem DeSantis has if he actually beats Trump in a contentious Primary is similar to the problem that McCain had, which was that a HUGE number of Republican voters will not vote for anyone but Trump in November (probably 20 million or so). In McCain’s case, he had to pick Palin to get some of the base back. For DeSantis, I cannot see what option(s) he might have and without those voters, the Democrats won’t even have to bother cheating. Nor will those Republican voters ever forgive DeSantis.
So, based on that, I don’t see DeSantis running, particularly given his (young) age.
The establishment was hell bent on character assassination. Donald Trump absorbed all of it and is game for more. I like DeSantis just fine, but if we abandon Trump, we are yielding to what the swamp wants. Now is the time that we screw our courage to the sticking place and not go all wobbly.
No, that was Fox.
I am Trump all the way, not that it’s any of your business, but if he does not disavow the vaccines they are going to hang the carnage around his neck.
E. Pluribus Unum wrote: “I don’t blame Trump for listening to the “experts” about the vaccine and the lockdowns, but I do blame him for not admitting that the vaccines kill people.”
How will Trump telling the almost 70 percent of the people in the US that have been vaccinated that the vaccines he developed and recommended they take may actually “kill people” help his chances?
And Trump has no path to the White House in 2024.
He will lose every state he lost in '20 at a minimum.
DeSantis at least has a chance.
Stop stalking me you weirdo.
