Every time I hear anything about her, she is complaining how racist everything is and what a victim she is. Yes yes. Just another poor “woman of color” who is being paid millions of dollars to pretend on TV.
I never understood the media viability of Kaling other than she was an American of Indian descent that media wanted to promote as some sort of diversity example.
Velma was rumored by hipster types to be a lesbian all along, and in some later versions of the character and the show she was.
Now she's Indian, or "South Asian." There are conflicting reports about whether she will be lesbian in the new series. It is true that Daphne will have two moms in the new show.
I was surprised out how many versions of the Scooby Doo series and characters there had been. Also surprised by how invested a lot of people are in characters that somebody probably dreamed up in a few minutes. If people aren't upset about Velma being a lesbian they are upset about her not being lesbian.
She isn’t pretty, has a bad body, and her voice is shrill.

I only remember the awful cartoon from the 80s. I don’t recall any sexuality in the cartoon. It was just a goofy kids cartoon.
But I’m old now. I guess an old cartoon has to homo everything now.
