Pentagon gives Ukraine green light for drone strikes inside Russia
Times UK ^ | 12/9/2022 | Michael Evans, Marc Bennetts

Posted on 12/12/2022 5:55:21 AM PST by PK1991

The Pentagon has given its tacit endorsement of Ukrainian attacks inside Russian territory and no longer fears such operations could lead to a “dramatic” Russian escalation, The Times reported on Friday, citing unnamed US defense officials.

The US position appears to only be based on the fact that up to this point, Russia hasn’t responded to attacks on its territory with nuclear weapons or by attacking NATO countries.

The Times report reads: “Moscow’s revenge attacks have to date all involved conventional missile strikes against civilian targets. Previously, the Pentagon was warier of Ukraine attacking Russia because it feared the Kremlin would retaliate either with tactical nuclear weapons or by targeting neighboring NATO nations.”

The report came after Ukrainian drone attacks hit Russian air bases deep inside Russian territory, including one that killed three Russian soldiers and damaged two Russian bombers. Following the attacks, Russian missiles pounded Ukrainian energy infrastructure, worsening the already dire situation for millions of Ukrainian civilians who are without power and heat in freezing temperatures.

Russia didn’t start launching large-scale attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure until October, after the truck bombing of the Kerch Bridge, which connects Crimea to the Russian mainland. US officials previously said that they support Ukrainian attacks on Crimea.

The Times report said that the US doesn’t want to publicly give Ukraine the greenlight to attack targets inside Russia. In public comments, US officials have said they are not “encouraging” or “enabling” Ukrainian strikes inside Russian territory. But a US defense official said that it’s up to Ukraine where they attack and that they have limited restrictions on using US-provided weapons.

So when Afghanistan gave Al Qaeda the green light to attack the US, we were wrong in responding?

We haven’t invaded Mexico, in case you are not aware of that

nor has the US tried to illegally annex parts of Mexico with sham referendums with no secret ballot and voting openly watched by soldiers, like Russia did with Ukraine

big difference!

May Not attack Russia with NATO SUPPLIED WEAPONS, only with Ukrainian built rockets, missiles and drones.

It’s not out place to give permission for another country to do anything in a war they are in with another.

It’s not our business and we need to stay out of it.

It won’t be long until Mexico is claiming California. Then broken and defeated American conservatives will be cheering them on just as cheer the Kremlin’s neo Soviet adventures now. Peace Through Strength Reagan conservatives not so much, obviously.

Russia threatening to nuke us is “not our business”? History shows us that projecting weakness just invites more aggression.

Israel has a policy that is a third party nation is responsible for an NBC attack on Israel, that nation becomes a legimite target as well as the proxy.

The US is providing weapons under the guise of NATO, however it is the US that is giving the green light to attack Russisa, or possibly Moscow/other cities.

It is my humble opinion, that Putin will not blame NATO but rather the US, and should place the US on notice that proxy nation attacks ok’d by the Biden Admin can be reciprocated.

All the talk of WWIII was on the assumption that Washington expanded the war as such. Now we are seeing that Washington is MAD to the extent that we could see limited Multually Assured Destruction.... Freep’ers will flame me that war with Russia is not likely, or that Russia would be crazy to attack the US.

The US had executed a losing adventure in Eteira against a Russian aligned regime.

The US is pushing hot buttons in Kosovo as we speak... another area that will not be resolved with Russian acceptance.

Biden is attacking Russian Interests in Syria as well.

Washington is pursuing a four front war on Russia.

Putin blaming NATO would simply be expanding the war to Europe. Putin can gain friends and allies at US expense by putting the US on notice rather than blaming/expanding the war into European countries - simply because Washington wants to attack Russia proper.

Russia’s manifest military weakness means it will keep nothing of its post Feb 23 gains. It will be lucky if it gets to keep Crimea, and Ukraine will probably wind up in NATO since it probably has more NATO arms and more battle experience than any NATO member except the US.

You missed my point.

If Russia is directly threatening to nuke us, that is between us and Russia.

Who put the US in charge of the Ukraine that they feel they can “give permission” for the Ukraine to take any military action they deem necessary? Can’t the Ukrainians think and act for themselves? Do we have to hold their hands while they wait for our “permission”?

Besides, it’s not our war and if we had stayed out of it, Russia wouldn’t have any reason to be threatening us.

NATO is Ukraine. Lets give Ukraine Nukes to take out Russian cities! Putin is to sick and too frightened of the USA—he would gladly lose Moscow to a Ukraine Nuke—and just sit there and let it happen. The war proves Russia is no threat to anyone. Poland should invade and take back the land’s Stalin seized long ago. Russia is so weak, they will fall in a fortnight. Their Navy is easily sunk with old drones, There tanks rolling coffins only good for cremating their crews. The Russia Air Force—unable to beat simple ground fire. A hand full of F-22s can take out the whole Russian air force. We were fools to fear them. They were a paper tiger. Let Poland and the Baltic States have Russia, China gets Siberia and Russia—that evil Empire should be stricken from the world Map.

Russia has not responded—because she can’t. They are nothing. They may not even have Nukes—just dummy rockets. Time to roll in and seize their oil. Ukraine has won the war—now all that is left is for Russia to surrender. For the right fee, Biden will let them exist as a rump state. Its all true—Ukraine is Victorious!

In a sense you may be correct, but Washington has now been exposed at green lighting attacks on Russia. That is not NATO, and it means the US now becomes responsible for those attacks on Russian territory... up to this article, the Ukraine could be seen as acting on their own accord - everything changes with this. Coupled with Minsk deception by NATO/Merkel, Putin has stated the loss of trust with NATO, the US, and Europe is simply not there and must be rebuilt.

The rapid succession of revelations of Washington’s pushing this war, from the very beginning is no longer just an open secret, but rather fact.

If it comes to a war with Russia, I’m hoping Putin responds by eliminating some DNC city strongholds so the voting equasion changes - he can start with Washington, DC and then with the Senator’s states pushing the war.

No world war three-Not with Russia—they have nothing. Their Nukes just props—they will not even explode is my guess. Even if they do work—they are valueless—because Russians are too scared to fire them. USSR was different—they were badasses but Putin’s Russia, a hollow shell—one good attack and the whole rotten structure will fall down. Thanks Zelenskyy you have pulled away the Russian mask—they got nothin’ You win Ukraine—Take what ever you want—Moldovia? You Got it! Crimea, its yours (as long as you rent the Sevastopol base to the USN). Russian Oil, Take it and the Russian People as well. They will make great slaves, Stalin proved that. When is the victory party in Kiev?

“Darn it. Now we got to try something else.” is what this says to me.

If Russia threatens to nuke a NATO country then it is a NATO issue, not to mention nuking the USA would be a global threat coming from Russia, all countries would be involved in the results of a nuclear war, and the resulting global wars, famine and chaotic bloodshed coming from the loss of America.

I believe the permission issue with Ukraine is based on their agreements with us before we give them certain long-distance weapons, not them simply asking us for permission to do something.

No, no, NO! Especially not at a time when Putin is talking about changing his nuclear policy. Biden should not have escalated the situation earlier by sending the 101st Airbourne and a squadron of fighters. Now this.

Not Brandon and not Pentagon - this is a decision by the Junta.

How many missiles or drones attacking into the US do we need to receive from Russia before this bad idea is rejected?

How can Russia not attack US lands when “Pentagon” is approving attacks on Russia?

Russia will go for something big against the US now.
