West killed peace proposal to end Ukraine war, Russia supported negotiated settlement
MP ^ | 9/3/22 | Ben Norton

Russia and Ukraine agreed to a negotiated settlement to end the conflict in April, but British Prime Minister Boris Johnson intervened to stop the peace deal, and the US and EU escalated the proxy war to try to weaken Moscow.

You're repeating the same nonsense that was already posted 100 times.

The "negotiated" peace deal will come when Russia withdraws from whatever additional territory it seized after Feb 23, assuming it isn't pushed back even further.

When Erdogan was brokering the talks they were on the verge of success until the western warmongers got involved.

Less the liberated territory that became part of Russia as per the recent election.

Complete lie, propagated by a pro-Kremlin blogger.

You can do better than that Comrade Jon!

Meanwhile in Russia: accused war criminal Zakhar Prilepin—who spends a lot of time on the frontlines and previously boasted of "killing many" in Ukraine—admits that Russia wants to negotiate merely to regroup and finish fighting later, any potential peace accords notwithstanding.

We Want To Negotiate Because We Are Not Ready To Launch Offense

Shoo Neocon. It’s over. Biden’s liberal world order/NATO has taken a crushing loss.

NATO isn’t at War here.

Ukraine isn’t in NATO. They aren’t going to in NATO. NATO was not stationing troops or missiles there.

Putin wanted the Black Sea.

Putin wanted Ukranian food, gas, and children.

Russia could have avoided this pain. This is entirely their choice. What happens next is entirely their choice. Call a cease fire. Move back to the border. Call it a day.

Here's the original source, which was actually anti-Putin, with the quote taken completely out of context, but propagated by the Kremlin trolls, like the OP here.

The World Putin Wants How Distortions About the Past Feed Delusions About the Future

Despite calls by some for a negotiated settlement that would involve Ukrainian territorial concessions, Putin seems uninterested in a compromise that would leave Ukraine as a sovereign, independent state—whatever its borders. According to multiple former senior U.S. officials we spoke with, in April 2022, Russian and Ukrainian negotiators appeared to have tentatively agreed on the outlines of a negotiated interim settlement: Russia would withdraw to its position on February 23, when it controlled part of the Donbas region and all of Crimea, and in exchange, Ukraine would promise not to seek NATO membership and instead receive security guarantees from a number of countries. But as Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated in a July interview with his country’s state media, this compromise is no longer an option. Even giving Russia all of the Donbas is not enough. “Now the geography is different,” Lavrov asserted, in describing Russia’s short-term military aims. “It’s also Kherson and the Zaporizhzhya regions and a number of other territories.” The goal is not negotiation, but Ukrainian capitulation.

That is now a absolute known fact.

Because you say so?

Nope.

“Less the liberated territory that became part of Russia as per the recent election.”

As a result of all the bad faith they’re going to take whatever they want and no one can do a thing about it, except shoot off their mouths.

Mysteriously exploding pipelines, shooting at nuclear power plants, sabotaging diplomacy efforts, executing POWs. Revenge is a dish best served cold, as they say. Payback is gonna be a real bitch.

Heh. Ukraine had already offered Russia almost everything it wanted but the Kremlin ignored it all and went back to NATO repeating its December demands that Ukraine be left completely defenceless when they go in for Round 2.

NATO told Z, and advised him not to take the deal.

Funnily enough the source for this isn’t some western Propaganda outfit. It’s from one of the Russian diplomats (with over 2 decades of experience) who was ordered by the Kremlin to make demands so utterly, gobsmackingly retarded that he apologised to other diplomats for the terms he had to present, quit, then emigrated to Israel.

The West didn’t kill the peace deal. It would’ve happily agreed to them if the Kremlin hadn’t been so effing drunk that they practically ordered their own negotiators to demand a complete disarmament of Ukraine AND order NATO out of the Baltic states as their conditions for saying yes.

And, tjis weekend, for the umpteenth time, Russian State TV explained the point of that demand. Get the peace deal, rearm, resupply, and then do what they did to Grozny.

Having a peace deal signed by Yeltsin didn’t help Chechnya and Putin is making the same play.

The only deal Ukraine should sign with Russia should be an ironclad one where Russia either sticks to the agreement and stays inside its own internationally agreed borders... Or gets a real taste of its own medicine.

As long as Russia insists on Ukraine and the Baltic both losing all security guarantees from their western allies at the same time as letting Russia keep what it has stolen, Ukraine should tell Moscow to pound sand.

Russia hasn't "liberated" anything.

What's more relevant is that not even the Russians fighting believe they're fighting for Russia: they know it's all nonsense, they're aware of what a clusterfark it is, and they're aware of the crimes committed by the Russian army.

Not a formula for success. They may just decide, like the Russian army in the field in 1917, just to retreat despite their orders.
