Biden says inflation help is coming but ‘will take time’

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden cautioned on Friday that “it’s going to take time” for inflation to recede, but he offered fresh assurance that legislation he signed earlier this year will soon help limit costs for health care and energy.

… At Friday’s event, Biden said his trip overseas showed “the United States is as well or better positioned as any nation in the world to lead the world on the economy in the years ahead.”

He conceded that “it’s going to take time to get inflation back down to normal levels.”

However, he said that “in six short weeks, Americans are going to start to feel the effects of the Inflation Reduction Act,” the massive legislation that he signed in August.

He said the law’s provision to limit to $35 the cost of insulin for seniors on Medicare begins on Jan. 1.

Thousands of dollars in tax credits also will become available to help make homes more energy efficient with new windows, solar panels or heat pumps.

“We’re talking about real money . . . and it’s just going to start kicking in now,” Biden said.

The focus on the economy could serve as a contrast to Republicans’ agenda in the House, where they just won a narrow majority and have planned sweeping investigations into the president, his family and his administration.

Biden doesn’t know anything, but whoever wrote that for him is right. The required recession is on the way, and only after that can we move forward again. Bring it.

My home furnace unfortunately does not run on insulin.

I’m sure prices will stabilize somewhat when we fall into a depression.

WOW. And it will only cost $10 a gallon gasoline to go pick it up at the pharmacy.

I suppose cutting back on the billions we are sending to Ukraine is out of the question? I mean look how much good it has done as compared what it would have done here on OUR own infrastructure.

Insulin should be dirt cheap. It is legal for one pharmaceutical company to PAY another NOT to manufacture a generic copy because Congress made that legal. Aren’t they sweethearts to squash competition for life saving drugs?

He’s hanging this garbage on the “reduction in the price of insulin for seniors on Medicare.” Which goes into effect on Jan 1. Thing is, insulin for seniors on medicare costs the patient very little, like average around 50 dollars a month, which is going to be reduced to 35 dollars a month. So it will go down by (maybe) 15 bucks a month. Plus many versions of insulin cost more, and many less.
